Integrated Process For Converting Hydrocarbon Gas To Liquids

View page
US Patent:
62487949, Jun 19, 2001
Filed:
Aug 5, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/369045
Inventors:
Thomas Gieskes - La Habra Heights CA
Assignee:
Atlantic Richfield Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
C07C 2700
C07C27300
C01C 104
US Classification:
518700
Abstract:
The present invention is an integrated process for converting light hydrocarbon gas to heavier hydrocarbon liquids. In each embodiment, a Fischer-Tropsch (FT) process comprising a thermal reformer and a reactor containing an FT catalyst is combined with one or more additional processes to achieve operational synergies. In a first embodiment, an FT process is integrated with a cryogenic liquefied natural gas (LNG) process wherein tail gas from the FT reaction is used to drive a refrigeration compressor in the LNG process. The tail gas, optionally supplemented with natural gas, may be fed directly to a gas turbine or may be combusted in steam boiler, which in turn provides steam to a steam turbine. The natural gas may be processed prior to its being fed to the LNG process and the FT process in order to remove any impurities and/or condensate. The process may be further integrated with a fertilizer production process comprising an ammonia synthesis process and a urea synthesis process.

Treatment Of Heavy Crude Oil And Diluent

View page
US Patent:
20170282148, Oct 5, 2017
Filed:
Jun 20, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/627561
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Thomas Gieskes - Houston TX, US
Joe Travis Moore - Tulsa OK, US
Lance Dawson McCarver - Tulsa OK, US
International Classification:
B01J 19/24
C10G 1/02
B01J 8/02
C10G 45/02
C10G 1/00
Abstract:
An integrated process simultaneously removes the diluent and reduces the TAN, resulting in cost savings from the diluent recovery and increasing the value of the produced heavy crude stream by removing the acids and other contaminants, while reducing the overall energy requirements when compared to performing the two processes separately.

Filed:
Apr 24, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/869258
Inventors:
- Houston TX, US
Thomas Gieskes - Houston TX, US
Assignee:
Vopak North America, Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
B65D 88/74
B61D 5/00
US Classification:
137 1, 1372346, 137347
Abstract:
Bituminous heavy crude oil is kept at elevated temperatures in order to flow and may be transported in one direction, and light hydrocarbons typically comprising of mixtures of components of which the majority will have molecular chain lengths of 2 to 12 carbon atoms, such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Natural Gas Liquids (NGL), light naphtha, natural gasoline and natural gas condensates may be transported in the opposite direction.
