Method And System For Assembling Components To Structures

View page
US Patent:
20210033388, Feb 4, 2021
Filed:
Jul 31, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/527863
Inventors:
- Deerfield IL, US
Matthew Behmlander - Metamora IL, US
Assignee:
Caterpillar Inc. - Deerfield IL
International Classification:
G01B 11/25
G01B 11/00
Abstract:
A method for assembling a component to a structure includes determining, by a controller, a location on the structure for a placement of the component onto the structure. The method further includes activating, by the controller, a light source to project a visual indicator onto the location. The method also includes actuating, by the controller, a robotic implement to locate and position the component at the location based on the visual indicator projected onto the location.

Method And System For Welding Inconel To Stainless Steel

View page
US Patent:
20210023645, Jan 28, 2021
Filed:
Jul 23, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/519453
Inventors:
- Deerfield IL, US
Matthew J. Behmlander - Metamora IL, US
Assignee:
Caterpillar Inc. - Deerfield IL
International Classification:
B23K 10/02
Abstract:
A method of gas metal arc welding, (GMAW) an Inconel part to a stainless steel part, including forming a weldable joint between a first surface of the Inconel part having a first thickness and a second surface of a stainless steel part having a second thickness at the weldable joint that is greater than the first thickness, welding the Inconel part to the stainless steel part along the weldable joint with the welding torch, delivering an output from the welding power source to the welding torch during welding, wherein the output of the welding power source is in the range of 100 amps to 400 amps and in the range of 14 volts to 30 volts, and delivering a continuous weld wire to a distal tip of the welding torch during welding, wherein a feed rate of the weld wire is in the range of 3 m/min. to 9 m/min.

Robotic System

View page
US Patent:
20190344442, Nov 14, 2019
Filed:
May 14, 2018
Appl. No.:
