Abstract:
A method of operating a media player includes playing back audio media. During the step of playing back audio media, a maximum volume parameter is refined for the playing back of the media by the media player. The refining is based at least in part on the playing back of audio media during a time period prior to executing the maximum volume refining step. After a period of time, the maximum volume refining step is repeated. The refining is configured to prevent/minimize harm to hearing of the media player user based, for example, on the actual volume of media playback and time/duration profiles provided by occupational safety and/or other organizations.

Sound (e.g., traffic, noise) that is effectively blocked or reduced by an audio device is presented alone or in combination with audible and/or visual media. Typically, sound that is external to presentation of, for example, digitally stored audible media (e.g., digitally stored audio files) is reduced or blocked when audio is presented via an audio-output device (e.g., headphones). This external sound can be presented to users via the same interface, channel, or audio-output device used to present audio-media. External sound can be blended (or combined) with audible media and/or it may be presented as it occurs (live) and/or stored so that it can be subsequently presented as recorded (e.g., digital data). Abstract:
This is directed to a system for testing the quality of the audio output components of an electronic device. In particular, this is directed to measuring and quantifying the software and hardware components of audio output by an electronic device. The electronic device can be connected to a testing apparatus that provides instructions for playing back particular audio files, recording the audio output by an electronic device, and comparing the recorded output with a baseline. The testing apparatus can analyze audio files generated using different attributes (e.g., containers, codecs, or bit rates) to ensure that all files that could be played back play back properly. To ensure that the testing apparatus correctly associates recorded audio outputs with audio test files, the content of each played back audio test file can identify the attributes of the audio test file. For example, each attribute can be associated with a 1 kHz tone at a particular frequency, such that the testing apparatus can identify the frequencies of detected 1 kHz tones to identify the attributes of the played back audio test file.

An electronic device and methods of use thereof are described. The electronic device having at least a front facing image capture device and a front facing display device arranged to display visual content is described. In one embodiment, the front facing camera can capture an image that can include at least image content. The image content can process in such a way that an operational state of the electronic device is modified in accordance with processed image content. Abstract:
A neural inference chip is provided, including at least one neural inference core. The at least one neural inference core is adapted to apply a plurality of synaptic weights to a plurality of input activations to produce a plurality of intermediate outputs. The at least one neural inference core comprises a plurality of activation units configured to receive the plurality of intermediate outputs and produce a plurality of activations. Each of the plurality of activation units is configured to apply a configurable activation function to its input. The configurable activation function has at least a re-ranging term and a scaling term, the re-ranging term determining the range of the activations and the scaling term determining the scale of the activations. Each of the plurality of activations units is configured to obtain the re-ranging term and the scaling term from one or more look up tables.

Abstract:
One or more acoustic parameters of a current acoustic environment of a user may be determined based on sensor signals captured by one or more sensors of the device. One or more preset acoustic parameters may be determined based on the one or more acoustic parameters of the current acoustic environment of the user and an acoustic environment of an audio file comprising audio signals that is determined based on the audio signals of the audio file or metadata of the audio file. The audio signals may be spatially rendered by applying spatial filters that include the one or more preset acoustic parameters to the audio signals, resulting in binaural audio signals. The binaural audio signals may be used to drive speakers of a headset. Other aspects are described and claimed.
