Filed:
Sep 23, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/565044
Inventors:
Casey Chebator - Weymouth MA, US
Assignee:
Tyco Healthcare Group LP - Mansfield MA
International Classification:
A61M 5/315
US Classification:
604231, 604191, 604218, 604236
Abstract:
An interface device is described which includes a body defining one or more cylindrical bores which are dimensioned to receive a standard luer lock syringe. Each bore includes a plunger movably positioned therein from a retracted position to an advanced position. The plunger and the distal end of the bore defines a first fluid reservoir and the standard syringe assembly defines a second fluid reservoir. The interface device and the syringe assembly are operable to sequentially deliver multiple fluids from the interface device to a catheter assembly.

Diluent/Medication Mixing Syringe Assembly

View page
US Patent:
8162875, Apr 24, 2012
Filed:
Sep 23, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/565016
Inventors:
Richard Braga - North Easton MA, US
Casey Chebator - Weymouth MA, US
Assignee:
Tyco Healthcare Group IP - Mansfield MA
International Classification:
A61M 37/00
US Classification:
604 85, 604 82, 604518
Abstract:
A diluent/medication mixing syringe assembly is described which includes a cannula which extends through a syringe plunger assembly into a reservoir of the syringe assembly. The cannula facilitates injection of a diluent, medication or other fluid into the fluid reservoir of the syringe assembly immediately prior to use for mixing with a medication in the reservoir. In one embodiment, a mixing element is secured to a distal end of the cannula within the reservoir to improve mixing efficiency.

Introducer Sheath For Catheters

View page
US Patent:
8262619, Sep 11, 2012
Filed:
Sep 30, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/894333
Inventors:
Casey Chebator - Weymouth MA, US
A. Ken Chan - Framingham MA, US
Assignee:
Tyco Healthcare Group LP - Mansfield MA
International Classification:
A61M 5/178
US Classification:
60416405, 604158
Abstract:
An introducer sheath includes a tubular body portion having a proximal region and a distal region, and defines an internal lumen configured and dimensioned to slidably receive a catheter. A penetrating portion at a distal end of the tubular body has a first tapered configuration to enlarge an opening in a body tissue during distal advancement of the introducer sheath through the body tissue and a second expanded configuration to enable the passage of a distal end portion of a catheter through the penetrating portion.

Cap Assembly For Use With A Prefilled Lock Solution Syringe

View page
US Patent:
8496643, Jul 30, 2013
Filed:
Dec 22, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/334471
Inventors:
Casey Chebator - Weymouth MA, US
Todd Chelak - Westborough MA, US
Assignee:
Covidien LP - Mansfield MA
International Classification:
A61M 25/16
A61M 25/18
US Classification:
604533
Abstract:
A cap assembly is disclosed for use with a lock solution delivery device. The cap assembly includes a housing defining a receptacle and having an inlet end and an outlet end. A plunger is movable axially within the receptacle from a retracted position to an advanced position and is rotatably supported within the receptacle from a first position to a second position. The plunger includes an axial extension configured to non-rotatably engage a syringe connected to the inlet end of the housing. The plunger is positioned to move from the first position to the second position in response to rotatable detachment of a syringe from the inlet end of the housing.

Safety Shield For Medical Needles

View page
US Patent:
20090062744, Mar 5, 2009
Filed:
Sep 25, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/237722
Inventors:
Eugene E. Weilbacher - Chesterfield MO, US
Casey Chebator - Weymouth MA, US
Assignee:
Tyco Healthcare Group LP - Mansfield MA
International Classification:
A61M 5/32
US Classification:
604192
Abstract:
A safety needle apparatus is provided. The safety needle apparatus includes a needle assembly including a needle mount and a needle cannula. The needle cannula defines a lumen and has a sharpened distal tip. The needle mount supports the proximal end of the needle cannula and is adapted to engage an intravenous line. The safety apparatus includes a shield positioned about the needle cannula. The needle cannula is movable in relation to the shield. The apparatus also includes a lock insert supported on the needle cannula and a locking member extending from an internal surface of the shield, wherein the locking insert and the locking member are configured to prevent movement of the needle cannula. Moreover, a platform including a base member, which is configured to support the needle cannula at a substantially orthogonal orientation to the plane of a top surface of the platform and supports the shield, is included.
