In one embodiment, the alternate interface is comprised of a GSM interface which allows data stored in the flash memory to be transmitted via a cellular telephone to a pre-selected telephone number by the user manipulating the user input device.

The control circuitry may be further configured to determine, for a source-detector link defined by a pairing of a first light source with a first detector, a link phase differential based on received phase information extracted from the detector-specific data for the source-detector link and source phase information of a first frequency modulated light beam from the first light source. Also, the control circuitry may be configured to determine a source-detector link quality metric for the source-detector link based on the link phase differential.

The processor is further configured for applying one or more weighting functions to the initial TOF profile to generate a weighted TOF profile having a subsequent CNR greater than the initial CNR between the plurality of states of the physiological activity. The processor is further configured for processing the weighted TOF profile, and identifying one of the plurality of states of the physiological activity.

A first processing system may be coupled to the biosignal sensor and comprise a plurality of analog signal processing circuits configured to be selectively powered based on a selectable treatment mode. A second processing system in communication with the first processing system and may comprise a plurality of digital signal processing circuits configured to be selectively powered based on the treatment mode. A neurostimulator may stimulate tissue according to the set of biosignal characteristics.
