Filed:
Jul 30, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/916253
Inventors:
Yang Gao - Fremont CA, US
Zheng John Shi - San Francisco CA, US
Shun Gao - San Jose CA, US
Armeen Mazda - Tiburon CA, US
Assignee:
Appeon Corporation - Hong Kong
International Classification:
G06F015/16
US Classification:
719330, 715513, 715760, 709203, 709219, 719311
Abstract:
The present invention permits a JavaScript-based Remote Procedure Call (RPC) to be executed from a Web page displayed in a Web browser window, without utilizing browser plug-in, Java Applet, or ActiveX technology. Traditionally, clunky downloads and Web browser plug-ins has been required to enable Web page interactivity, which greatly compromises the performance and reach of the Web page. Based purely on HTML and JavaScript, the present invention utilizes the HTML element to pass data to the server and execute a remote procedure, receiving the resulting output to the same displayed Web page. The present invention can be used to build a lightweight Web page that offers real-time data and interactivity.

Filed:
Jul 30, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/916251
Inventors:
Yang Gao - Fremont CA, US
Zheng John Shi - San Francisco CA, US
Shun Gao - San Jose CA, US

Assignee:
Appeon Corporation - Hong Kong
International Classification:
G09G005/00
US Classification:
715738, 715740, 709227
Abstract:
The present invention permits textual data to be exchanged between a Web page displayed in a standard Microsoft Web browser window and a server, utilizing a non-persistent HTTP connection. Traditionally, each time textual data is received to the displayed Web page a record is added to the history list. This is problematic as it clutters the history list, compromises the functionality of the browser “Back” and “Forward” buttons, and results in undesirable server operations to be executed. The present invention utilizes several methods for loading textual data to a displayed Web page, without adding a URL to the history list. In one aspect of the invention, a element is used to transmit a HTTP request for new data and receive the HTTP response. The present invention can be used to build a lightweight Web page that offers real-time data and interactivity.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method for retrieving and editing the data structure of a HTML UI Control, such as a treeview. The system and method have the capability to synchronize the data structure of a displayed HTML UI Control in a Web page with its corresponding data structure stored in an information system at a server, without refreshing said Web page. The present invention utilizes JavaScript to temporarily store the data structure of a displayed HTML UI Control. The JavaScript also has the capability to search and modify a corresponding information system at a server. One way to achieve this capability is by utilizing a browser-based Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and specialized business logic at the server to carry out server-side tasks on said information system.

US Patent:
7152203, Dec 19, 2006
Filed:
Jul 30, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/916248
Inventors:
Yang Gao - Fremont CA, US
Zheng John Shi - San Francisco CA, US
Shun Gao - San Jose CA, US

Assignee:
Appeon Corporation - Hong Kong
International Classification:
G06N 3/00
US Classification:
715513
Abstract:
The invention permits assembly of Web pages for display, to include text elements received from discrete network locations, and permits independent update of individual text elements of a Web page without reassembling the entire Web page, and permits independent update of all types of page elements without a client side agent other than a browser. In one aspect of the invention, a browser at a client device updates the display of a Web page containing at least one first element by transmitting a request to a server for a second element that is related to the first element, receiving the second element, and then displaying the second element with the Web page, without reassembling the Web page. In another aspect of the invention, the transmitting, receiving, and displaying are accomplished without a client side agent other than the browser.

US Patent:
20030217191, Nov 20, 2003
Filed:
May 20, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/147897
Inventors:

Armeen Mazda - Tiburon CA, US
International Classification:
G06F009/00
US Classification:
709/320000, 709/329000
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method for converting the UI logic of a Windows software application to run within a Web browser. The system provides means for creating properties and functions for an HTML UI control type. These functions and properties are made similar to the functions and properties of a UI control type utilized in the Windows software application. The UI logic of the Windows software application is then translated into JavaScript, such that the UI logic utilizes the newly created functions and properties. Reduction in material differences between the two sets of UI logic reduces the complexity and time re UI ed for translation of the UI logic code. The present invention provides further economic benefits with repeated use.

System And Method Of Voice Transmission From Mobile Data Networks

View page
US Patent:
20060233148, Oct 19, 2006
Filed:
Apr 18, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/108111
Inventors:
Zheng Shi - Tiburon CA, US
International Classification:
H04B 7/216
US Classification:
370342000
Abstract:
The present invention permits the real-time transmission of voice from a networked device via a mobile data network to a mobile phone handset, without the involvement of broadband wireless networks such as Bluetooth, WI-FI or WIMAX. Currently, much work has been done to enable VoIP communication via the WI-FI protocol. WI-FI access requires the mobile handset supporting WI-FI feature, and the presence of WI-FI gateway, typically installed in hot spots such as airport or coffee shops. This is not ideal as the combination of these two criteria means that only a small fraction of the handsets that support WI-FI can make such VoIP calls and only when the users are within a hot spot. The present invention eliminates these limitations and enables voices to be transmitted from the mobile data network directly into a mobile phone whenever and wherever there is mobile phone dial tone.
