Abstract:
A composition useful in the manufacturing of plastic cookware includes a polyetherimide resin and an acidic additive selected from the group consisting of aliphatic carboxylic acids having a vapor pressure less than one atmosphere at 300Â C. , aromatic carboxylic acids having a vapor pressure less than one atmosphere at 300Â C. , and combinations comprising at least one of the foregoing acidic additives. In one embodiment, the composition further comprises an additional resin, such as a polyester resin. The acidic additive is effective in improving the mold release and increasing the melt flow of the composition. Articles including the composition and a method for preparing the composition are also described.

Method And System For Introducing A New Project Initiative Into A Business

View page
US Patent:
20010032105, Oct 18, 2001
Filed:
Jan 2, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/750906
Inventors:
Robert Frye - Schenectady NY, US
Jean Hubert Heuschen - Williamstown MA, US
James Kindlon - West Sand Lake NY, US
Jerome Parmer - Southington CT, US
Yimin Jin - Glenmont NY, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/007000
Abstract:
A method and system for introducing a new project initiative into a business. Once it has been decided that a need exists and that an initiative should be developed, a computer system receives project information from a requesting party and lays out all required elements to successful project implementation in a systematic series of stages, milestones and checklists. A variety of milestone and checklists are completed for each stage and relevant documentation is electronically attached and referenced in the computer system. A stage approver is then electronically notified by the computer system that a stage approval needs to be made. In response to this notice, the stage approver reviews the collected information and makes a determination as to whether the project should advance to the next stage. If a stage approval is received, the requesting party is electronically notified and the various milestones and checklists corresponding to the next stage are undertaken. By progressing through all stages, information is shared rapidly and efficiently and creates a system of record for new project initiative introductions which may be subsequently searched and referenced.

Method And System For Introducing A New Material Into A Product Design System

View page
US Patent:
20020010524, Jan 24, 2002
Filed:
Jan 2, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/750918
Inventors:
Yimin Jin - Glenmont NY, US
Stephen Cooper - Newburgh IN, US
Frank Liberti - Mt. Vernon IN, US
James Gosselin - Pittsfield MA, US
William Faria - Lynnfield MA, US
Johannes Lohmeijer - Hoogerheide, NL
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
700/106000, 705/028000
Abstract:
A method and system for introducing a new material into a product design system wherein the system receives basic material use information from a requesting party and determines whether a new material introduction (NMI) is necessary for acquiring approval to use the material. If an NMI is required, the system receives details of the NMI and electronically notifies appropriate approval departments of the NMI. The various approval departments are simultaneously supplied with specific NMI information. Once the NMI information has been reviewed, the system receives approval determinations from the various departments. If approvals have been received from all departments, the requesting party is notified of the approval and a database of NMI's is updated to reflect the approved NMI. However, if the NMI is not approved by all departments, the requesting party is so notified and the NMI database is not updated.

Method And System For Introducing A New Material Supplier Into A Product Design And Manufacturing System

View page
US Patent:
20020087368, Jul 4, 2002
Filed:
Aug 8, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/682239
Inventors:
Yimin Jin - Glenmont NY, US
James Barren - Scotia NY, US
Sarah Morgan - East Greenbush NY, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705/007000
Abstract:
A method and system for introducing a new supplier into a product design and manufacturing system. Once it has been decided that a need exists and that a new supplier should be investigated for introduction, a plurality of supplier and project information is received through a systematic series of stages, milestones and checklists. A variety of milestone and checklist items are completed for each stage and relevant documentation is received and reviewed. A stage tollgate is then conducted, wherein it is determined whether the project should advance into the next stage. If a stage approval is received, the various milestones and checklists corresponding to the next stage are undertaken. By progressing through all stages, all required information is shared rapidly and efficiently and creates a system of record for new supplier introduction which may be subsequently searched and referenced.

Polyetherimide Resin/Polyester Resin Blends Having Improved Properties

View page
US Patent:
61504734, Nov 21, 2000
Filed:
Dec 14, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/211304
Inventors:
Sterling Bruce Brown - Niskayuna NY
Yimin Jin - Newburgh IN
James F. Kelley - Troy NY
Jun Liao - Evansville IN
Michael Teruki Takemori - Rexford NY
Raymond Lee Utley - Mt. Vernon IN
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Pittsfield MA
International Classification:
C08L 6300
US Classification:
525423
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a thermoplastic resin composition comprising one or more polyetherimide resins; one or more polyester resins; at least one epoxy compound having one or more epoxy functional groups per molecule in an amount effective to improve at least one of impact resistance, hydrolytic resistance, and tab-bending performance of a molded specimen of the composition; and optionally, at least one catalyst in an amount effective to improve at least one of impact resistance, hydrolytic resistance, and tab-bending performance of a molded specimen of the composition as compared to the same composition not containing the catalyst. It was unexpectedly found that the compositions exhibited enhanced heat, impact, hydrolytic resistance, and/or enhanced tab-bending performance over other compositions known in the art. In a preferred embodiment, the epoxy compound contains 3,4-epoxycyclohexylmethyl-3,4-epoxycyclohexanecarboxylate and the catalyst contains sodium stearate.
