Avi Niv - Kfar-Blum, IL
Majid Gharghi - Berkeley CA, US
Xiang Zhang - Alamo CA, US
Assignee:
The Regents of the University of California - Oakland CA
International Classification:
H01L 31/0232
H01L 31/18
US Classification:
136259, 438 72, 257E31127
Abstract:
This invention improves the efficiency of non-optimal solar cell materials, enabling them to achieve the same efficiency as optimal materials. The invention describes a method of improving the emission and absorption properties of a generic photovoltaic cell using feedback reflectors and/or filters, increasing the open circuit voltage of the cell, and thus the overall efficiency. Specific examples of single junction photovoltaics are detailed, but not limited to. Particularly, semiconducting solar cells in either single- or multi-junction formats are described. The invention can be applied to any functioning solar cell to increase the efficiency, while describing the maximal efficiency available using thermodynamic identities. Other examples are included, such as organic photovoltaic, nanostractured photovoltaic devices, and non-planar geometries. The invention thus enables using non-optimal photovoltaic materials to achieve similar efficiency results as optimal ones, regardless of the designed structure or material used.

Filed:
May 13, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/319368
Inventors:
- Santa Clara CA, US
Heesoo KANG - Cupertino CA, US
Xiang ZHANG - Sunnyvale CA, US
International Classification:
H01L 21/762
H01L 27/146
Abstract:
A shallow trench isolation (STI) structure and method of fabrication includes forming a shallow trench isolation (STI) structure having a polygonal shaped cross-section in a semiconductor substrate of an image sensor includes a two-step etching process. The first step is a dry plasma etch that forms a portion of the trench to a first depth. The second step is a wet etch process that completes the trench etching to the desired depth and cures damage caused by the dry etch process. A CMOS image sensor includes a semiconductor substrate having a photodiode region and a pixel transistor region separated by a shallow trench isolation (STI) structure having a polygonal shaped cross-section.

F16M 11/12
F16M 11/08
Abstract:
Display assemblies for supporting displays on stands or support arms have mount portions to removably attach to the displays using magnetic assemblies and latches. The magnetic assemblies and latches can improve user experience and allow the display to be installed on a support arm from the viewing side of the display and without having to see or reach behind the display. Magnetic structures can center a mount portion of the support arm and a recess of the display and can attract them to each other. Laterally-extending latches can ensure the display is not inadvertently removed. Locking mechanisms can prevent the display from being rotated to a portrait orientation when sufficient space around the display and the necessary user intent is not provided.

Method And Apparatus For Haar-Based Point Cloud Coding

View page
US Patent:
20220292730, Sep 15, 2022
Filed:
Aug 27, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/446263
Inventors:
- Palo Alto CA, US
Xiang ZHANG - Sunnyvale CA, US
Shan LIU - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
TENCENT AMERICA LLC - Palo Alto CA
International Classification:
G06T 9/40
G06T 15/08
Abstract:
In a method of point cloud attribute decoding in a point cloud decoder, a sorting method of a set of points of a point is determined. A quantization parameter for quantizing transform coefficients of a Haar-based attribute coding of the point cloud is determined based on first signaling information in a coded bitstream of the point cloud. The Haar-based attribute coding is configured to perform point cloud compression on the set of points of the point cloud based on a Haar transform. An entropy decoding method for decoding the quantized transform coefficients is determined according to the quantization parameter that is determined based on the first signaling information. The quantized transform coefficients are further determined based on the entropy decoding method. Attributes of the point cloud are reconstructed based on the determined sorting method and the determined quantized transform coefficients.

17/404740
Inventors:
- Palo Alto CA, US
Xiang ZHANG - Sunnyvale CA, US
Shan LIU - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
TENCENT AMERICA LLC - Palo Alto CA
International Classification:
H04N 19/597
H04N 19/70
Abstract:
In some examples, an apparatus for point cloud compression/decompression includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry determines a flag that indicates an enable/disable control for saving coding state in a largest coding unit (LCU) based coding of a point cloud. In some examples, the processing circuitry stores coding state information before a coding of a first LCU; and in response to the flag indicating an enable control, the processing circuitry restores, a coding state according to the stored coding state information before a coding of a second LCU. In some examples, in response to the flag indicating an enable control, the processing circuitry stores the coding state information before the coding of the first LCU. In some examples, in response to the flag indicating a disable control, the processing circuitry skip the storing/restoring of the coding state information.
