Filed:
Nov 10, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/709818
Inventors:
William F. Nordlin - Rockford IL
Assignee:
Greenlee Textron, Inc. - Rockford IL
International Classification:
B25B 1300
US Classification:
811244, 811251, 811211
Abstract:
A deep socket which has two ends, where each end is configured to engage a pair of different sized nuts. Preferably, one end of the deep socket is configured to engage either a  inch or {fraction (13/16)} inch square nut, and the other end of the deep socket is configured to engage either a 1 inch or 1-and-â inch square nut. Preferably, the deep socket is configured such that the deep socket can be used to turn a nut fully down on a threaded rod which extends up to eight inches including a nut on the threaded rod. Preferably, the socket includes a body that provides a bore that is configured to accept the threaded rod when the socket is used to turn the nut down on the threaded rod. Preferably, each end of the socket is configured to be engaged with a  inch square adapter. Ideally, each end is configured to engage a spring pin locking mechanism which is provided on the adapter such that the socket tends to remain engaged with the adapter.

Mechanism To Fasten Adaptors To A Head Portion Of A Post Driver

View page
US Patent:
6626247, Sep 30, 2003
Filed:
Jan 11, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/758693
Inventors:
William F. Nordlin - Rockford IL
Assignee:
Greenlee Textron, Inc. - Rockford IL
International Classification:
B25D 1100
US Classification:
173 90, 173114, 173136
Abstract:
The present invention provides a post driver which includes various post adaptors having different cross-sections. The post adaptors can be attached to, and detached from, a head portion of the post driver. An adaptor is attached to the head portion by retracting a pin in the head portion, sliding the adaptor into slots on the head portion, and releasing the pin such that the pin extends through an aperture of the adaptor. A post having a cross-section comparable to that of the adaptor can then be inserted into the adaptor, allowing the post driver to drive the post into the ground. The adaptor can be removed from the head portion by retracting the pin and sliding the adaptor out of the slots. If another type of post is to be driven into the ground, a corresponding adaptor can be attached to the head portion.

Stud Punch Tool

US Patent:
6647630, Nov 18, 2003
Filed:
Feb 2, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/776441
Inventors:
James H. Lucas - Loves Park IL
William F. Nordlin - Rockford IL
Assignee:
Greenlee Textron Inc. - Rockford IL
International Classification:
B26F 100
US Classification:
30363, 30251
Abstract:
The present invention provides a novel stud punch tool for punching a stud. The tool includes a first member, a second member, a third member pivotally connected to the first and second members, and a punch assembly. The first member has an opening for receiving the stud and a bore that is in communication with the opening and which allows the punch assembly to move through the bore and the opening to punch the stud. The second member has slots therein to allow the punching assembly to be slidably mounted therein such that a portion of the punch assembly is capable of being positioned at a first end of the slot when the second member is parallel to the first member and such that the portion is capable of being positioned at a second end of the slots when the second member is angled from the first member.

Cutter For Fiber Optic Cable And Method Of Using Same

View page
US Patent:
6735870, May 18, 2004
Filed:
Dec 20, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/027141
Inventors:
William F. Nordlin - Poplar Grove IL
Assignee:
Greenlee Textron Inc. - Rockford IL
International Classification:
B26B 1300
US Classification:
30134
Abstract:
A cutter for cutting cable, such as fiber optic cable, and a method of using same is provided. The cutter includes a pair of opposite members that are joined together at a joint such that the opposite members move in conjunction with each other. Each member has a handle on one side of the joint and a cutting blade on the opposite side of the joint. When the handles are forced together, the cutting blades are also forced together. The cutter also includes a clamping mechanism. The clamping mechanism is used to clamp the fiber optic cable on either side of the cutting blades such that the strength reinforcement strands of the fiber optic cable will be placed in tension, prior to the cutting of the strength reinforcement strands within the fiber optic cable, thereby ensuring a clean cut by the cutting blades.

Cable Cutter/Crimper Mechanism

View page
US Patent:
6766581, Jul 27, 2004
Filed:
Feb 20, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/079089
Inventors:
William F. Nordlin - Poplar Grove IL
Assignee:
Greenlee Textron Inc. - Rockford IL
International Classification:
B26B 1300
US Classification:
30252, 30251, 74143
Abstract:
A tool for cutting/crimping a workpiece, such as a cable, includes an automatic rapid blade advance such that a blade on a movable jaw of the tool advances toward cutting the cable every time the handles of the tool are closed. The automatic rapid blade advance also advances the blade on the movable jaw toward cutting the cable every time the handles of the tool are opened up until the blade on the movable jaw first encounters a resistive force from the cable. The tool also includes an automatic blade return such that the blade on the movable jaw will automatically return to its original position after the blade has cut through or crimped the cable.

Hydraulic Punch Driver

View page
US Patent:
6772521, Aug 10, 2004
Filed:
Nov 13, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/074535
Inventors:
William F. Nordlin - Poplar Grove IL
Thomas Gene Boese - Rockford IL
Assignee:
Greenlee Textron Inc. - Rockford IL
International Classification:
B26F 100
US Classification:
30360, 30362
Abstract:
A hydraulic punch driver which includes a hydraulic pump section a hydraulic ram section, and a hydraulic hose which connects these two sections together. Because the hydraulic hose is flexible, the operator is able to manipulate the ram section such that it can be positioned at an angle relative to the pump section; a hose guard can be provided on the hose to protect the hose and to prevent overflexing of the hose. Such flexibleness allows the operator to use the punch driver in virtually any position such that the ram can operate as necessary and the operator can operate the pump handle, regardless of the environmental conditions of the place of use. The pump section also includes a coupler which allows a handle thereof to swivel 360 degrees to further allow the operator to grip and actuate the pump handle with maximum comfort.
