Abstract:
This invention provides: (a) new organotin functionalized silanes: (b) a solid prepared by chemically bonding organotin functionalized silanes to a solid inorganic support containing surface hydroxy groups: (c) a solid catalyst prepared from said supported organotin functionalized silane; (d) a process for conducting esterification or transesterification, and urethane, urea, silicone, and amino forming reaction utilizing said solid supported catalyst; (e) a process of separating the solid supported catalyst from the reaction products employing ligandâsolid separation techniques; (f) reuse of the solid supported catalyst after being separated from the reaction products; (g) a continuous esterification or transesterification reaction or urethane, urea, silicone, or amino forming reaction or urethane, urea, silicone, or amino forming reaction comprising passing reactants for a esterification or transesterification reaction or urethane, urea, silicone, or amino forming reaction or a urethane, urea, silicone, or amino forming reaction or a urethane, urea, silicone, or amino forming reaction reaction through a reactor containing a catalytically effective amount of said solid supported catalyst to form esterification or transesterification reaction or a urethane, urea, silicone, or amino forming reaction or a urethane, urea, silicone, or amino forming reaction products in said reactor and removing said reaction products from said reactor; and (h) esterification or transesterification reaction or a urethane, urea, silicone, or amino forming reaction or urethane, urea, silicone, or amino forming reaction products produced with said solid, supported, tin-containing catalyst and said reaction products containing less than 100 ppm tin by weight; and (i) the synthesis of organotin silanes with and without a Lewis acid.

Abstract:
The invention provides a process for producing monoalkyltin trihalide or a mixture of monoalkyltin trihalide and dialkyltin dihalide by: (a) contacting dialkyltin dihalide with an alkylation agent and, optionally, tin tetrahalide, to form a tetraalkyltin mixture comprising tetraalkyltin, trialkyltin halide, and dialkyltin dihalide; (b) reacting the tetraalkyltin mixture with tin tetrahalide to form a monoalkyltin trihalide mixture comprising monoalkyltin trihalide, dialkyltin dihalide and optionally triaklyltin halide; (c) processing the monoalkyltin trihalide mixture to separately recover the monoalkyltin trihalide and a dialkyltin dihalide stream optionally containing trialkyltin halide; and (d) recycling at least a portion of the dialkyltin dihalide stream recovered in step (c) to the contacting step (a).

Abstract:
A polyol pre-mix composition includes a blowing agent having a halogenated hydroolefin, a polyol, a surfactant, a catalyst composition, and a metal salt. The metal salt may be, for example, a carboxylate, acetylacetonate, alcoholate of a metal selected from the group consisting of Zn, Co, Ca, and Mg. The metal salt may be, for example, a carboxylate and/or alcoholate of a C1-C21 straight chain or branched aliphatic monocarboxylic acid or monoalcohol, such as magnesium formate, zinc octoate, calcium octoate, cobalt octoate, and magnesium octoate, and mixtures thereof. The metal acetylacetonate may be, for example, zinc acetylacetonate, cobalt acetylacetonate, magnesium acetylacetonate, or calcium acetylacetonate. A two-part system for producing a thermosetting foam blend includes (a) a polyisocyanate and, optionally, one or more isocyanate compatible raw materials; and (b) the polyol pre-mix composition. A method for producing a thermosetting foam blend includes combining: (a) a polyisocyanate; and (b) the polyol pre-mix composition.

The invention comprises a curable composition comprising: (i) a blocked reactive component wherein the blocked reactive component is a blocked isocyanate or a blocked isothiocyanate; (ii) a functional compound reactive with the blocked reactive component, the functional compound containing reactive hydrogen; (iii) a catalyst for promoting the reaction of the reactive component with the blocked functional compound, wherein said catalyst is based on the reaction product of manganese, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, germanium, antimony, or bismuth, or the oxides thereof with a mercaptan, or an organic acid, wherein said organic acid is hexanoic, oxalic, adipic, lactic, tartaric, salicylic, thioglycolic, succinic, or mercapto succinic acid, or the reaction product of copper or germanium, or the oxides thereof with a lower aliphatic acid. The manganese, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, germanium, antimony, or bismuth catalysts can be used in conjunction with other compounds to promote the reaction, especially compounds based on tin, preferably organotin compounds. Water soluble catalysts are preferred.
