Economy Of Motion Machine

US Patent:
7434396, Oct 14, 2008
Filed:
Jun 13, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/451436
Inventors:
Welbourne McGahee - Melbourne FL, US
International Classification:
F03C 1/00
US Classification:
60495
Abstract:
The invention is a method and apparatus for extracting power from a buoyant source within a contained column of liquid. It is comprised of an endless chain of movable buoyant objects, a means to convert the movement of the chain into useful work and a tank filled with a constant volume column of water. The buoyant objects comprising the chain sequentially enter the bottom of the water column, move up through the column and emerge at the surface. The emerging buoyant objects leave the tank and are directed to the tank bottom were each buoyant object repeats the cycle. As the chain of buoyant objects cycle through the water column, the volume of water remains constant, with one buoyant object of the chain entering the bottom of the water column as one is exiting at the top surface. The movement of the chain is a function of the buoyancy of the buoyant objects and the movement is converted to work by any conventional means using a rotary drive or linear escapement motor.

US Patent:
20100223922, Sep 9, 2010
Filed:
Mar 5, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/380801
Inventors:
Welbourne D. McGahee - Melbourne FL, US
International Classification:
F03B 17/02
US Classification:
60495
Abstract:
A means and apparatus for fluid containment providing for closed loop operation of an apparatus within a column of liquid. The apparatus extracts power from a buoyant source within the contained column of liquid and is comprised of an endless chain of movable buoyant objects, a means to convert the movement of the chain into useful work and a tank filled with a constant volume column of liquid. The buoyant objects comprising the chain sequentially enter the bottom of the liquid column through an airlock seal of the current invention, move up through the column and emerge at the surface. The emerging buoyant objects leave the tank and are directed to the tank bottom where each buoyant object repeats the cycle. As the chain of buoyant objects cycles through the displaced column of liquid, the volume of liquid remains constant, with one buoyant object of the chain entering the bottom of the liquid column as one is exiting at the top surface. The invention provides for closed loop operation of the apparatus and increased control fluid flow rates within the apparatus to addresses liquid leakage due to mechanical wear at seals and to provide a controlled method for removal of friction generated heat within the apparatus. Chambered sections within the apparatus create fluid flow restriction zones where differential pressure can be controlled to further reduce the force requirement for injecting each buoyant object (a.k.a. displacing element) into the bottom of the contained column of liquid.

Fly Fishing Apparatus And Quick Connector Therefor

View page
US Patent:
39369714, Feb 10, 1976
Filed:
Feb 19, 1974
Appl. No.:
5/443872
Inventors:
Welbourne D. McGahee - Melbourne FL
Assignee:
Loop-A-Line, Inc. - Melbourne FL
International Classification:
A01K 9104
US Classification:
43 4483
Abstract:
Fly fishing apparatus including a double-ended special connector having horizontal and vertical eyes at each end between the fishing line and a leader connected to a fishing hook also having a horizontal and vertical eye whereby the cutting of lines and tieing of knots is eliminated. In modifications the upper end of the double-ended special connector is provided with a horizontal eye only for receiving the knob of a plastic fishing line resulting from the application of heat or for receiving the fishing line with a knot therein.

Coupling Means For Securing Plastic Worms To Fish Hooks

View page
US Patent:
48416657, Jun 27, 1989
Filed:
Aug 31, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/238490
Inventors:
Welbourne D. McGahee - Melbourne FL
Assignee:
Loop-a-Line, Inc. - Melbourne FL
International Classification:
A01K 8500
US Classification:
43 4224
Abstract:
A bait securing means comprised of a helical wire coil including a means for securing one end of the helix to a fish hook eye by snap fit deformation of the wire. The dimension of the helix is calculated to allow the shank of a hook to pass coaxially through the coils and to permit a bait such as an artificial worm to be screwed onto the unsecured end of the helix so the helix will be completely enclosed within the end of the bait and a web of bait material greater than the diameter of the wire is present between the coils of the helix.

US Patent:
49206869, May 1, 1990
Filed:
Feb 7, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/307099
Inventors:
Welbourne D. McGahee - Melbourne FL
John W. Campbell - Montgomery AL
Assignee:
Loop-A-Line, Inc. - Melbourne FL
International Classification:
A01K 8500
US Classification:
43 4224
Abstract:
A fishing lure incorporating a pocket dimensioned to hold a sinker and/or rattle within the lure body includes an easy access slit formed in the lure material to allow ready exchange of sinker/rattle combinations.

Removable Weed Guard And Reef Guard

View page
US Patent:
49246186, May 15, 1990
Filed:
May 27, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/199377
Inventors:
Welbourne D. McGahee - Melbourne FL
Assignee:
Loop-A-Line, Inc. - Melbourne FL
International Classification:
A01K 8300
US Classification:
43 436
Abstract:
A removable and replaceable weed guard may be added to a fish hook to prevent the hook from becoming entangled with weeds. The weed guard may be made of wire or other spring material and a set of weed guards may be used to calibrate a hook so that the depth and speed of motion of a lure to which the hook is attached may be controlled. The weed guard of the invention is a bait saver, since it prevents live bait from accidentally falling off the hook. A connecting loop for securing to a lure and a figure-eight connector for attaching a fish hook to a lure are also described. A hand tool is useful for attaching the connector.
