Abstract:
A pump that includes a cylinder housing having a through bore. A cylinder liner is disposed substantially within the through bore and includes a substantially uniform aperture having a first diameter. A plunger includes an engagement portion having a second diameter smaller than the first diameter. The first diameter and the second diameter are sized to define a first diametrical clearance that is less than about 0.1 percent of the second diameter.

Gear Pump With Slots In Teeth To Reduce Cavitation

View page
US Patent:
20100158739, Jun 24, 2010
Filed:
Dec 18, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/337868
Inventors:
Weishun Ni - Rockton IL, US
Steven A. Heitz - Rockford IL, US
Joseph Wetch - Roscoe IL, US
Christian L. Griffiths - Belvidere IL, US
International Classification:
F01C 1/18
US Classification:
4182065, 4182061
Abstract:
A gear pump comprises a drive gear being mounted for rotation about a first axis and having a plurality of gear teeth at a radially outer location. A driven gear is mounted for rotation about a second axis, and having a plurality of teeth at a radially outer location. The drive gear teeth engage the driven gear teeth at a contact face to cause the driven gear to rotate. Slots are formed in the contact face of one of the drive and driven gear teeth.

Brake Mechanism For Air Turbine Starter

View page
US Patent:
20110188997, Aug 4, 2011
Filed:
Feb 4, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/700337
Inventors:
Weishun W. Ni - Rockton IL, US
Jeffrey A. Stadler - Roscoe IL, US
Jody A. Peterson - Rockford IL, US
Assignee:
HAMILTON SUNDSTRAND CORPORATION - Windsor Locks CT
International Classification:
F01D 15/12
F16D 65/24
US Classification:
415123, 188170
Abstract:
A brake assembly () for an air turbine starter () includes a brake cylinder () located in the air turbine starter (). A brake piston () is located at least partially within the brake cylinder () and slidable therein. A biasing member () biases the brake piston () toward a turbine wheel () of the air turbine starter () applying a braking force to the turbine wheel () and defining a piston chamber () between the turbine wheel () and the brake piston (). A through opening () in the brake piston () into the piston chamber () is configured such that a flow of fluid through the through opening () into the piston chamber () applies a force to the brake piston () sufficient to overcome the bias thereby allowing rotation of the turbine wheel ().

US Patent:
20120156077, Jun 21, 2012
Filed:
Dec 20, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/973349
Inventors:
Sara Dexter - Rockford IL, US
Weishun Ni - Rockton IL, US
Assignee:
HAMILTON SUNDSTRAND CORPORATION - Windsor Locks CT
International Classification:
F01C 19/04
US Classification:
418106
Abstract:
A vane pump is provided and includes a liner having an inlet window and a discharge window, the liner being formed to define a cam surface and a rotor carrying a plurality of radially extending vanes which are forced outwardly such that vane tips thereof contact with the cam surface, the rotor having a direction of rotation such that one end of the inlet window is an upstream end and an opposed end is a downstream end, a radius of each of the vane tips being approximately 0.114 inches (0.3 cm) and a profile of the cam surface being defined in accordance with the radius of the vane tips.
