Inventors:
Theodore Alan Conorich - Lake Hiawatha NJ
Wayne Scott Filus - Lebanon NJ
Assignee:
Avaya Technology Corp. - Basking Ridge NJ
International Classification:

US Classification:
174 683, 174 72 A, 174 72 R, 174135, 361826, 248 49, 138111
Abstract:
A retention device for the installation of cabling includes a bottom surface for connecting the retention device to a support structure, and a top surface which is integrally connected to the bottom surface at a distance therefrom by an aft surface. The top surface includes at least two cable gripping members which define a passage for selectively housing the cable clusters. The gripping member is defined by a distal edge, a proximal edge and a structural area connecting them. The passage is defined by the distal edge and proximal edge of the adjacent gripping members and an aft edge of the aft surface. The aft edge engages the top surface in an off-set manner sufficiently large to generate clearance for, and reduce bending tension of, cable clusters which engage the retention device during installation. The gripping member further includes a forward end extension, integrally connected to the structural area of the gripping members. The forward extension includes a distal projection extending distally of the passage and a proximal projection extending proximally of the passage.

Avaya Technology Corp. - Basking Ridge NJ
International Classification:
H01B 700
US Classification:
174135
Abstract:
A wiring block for telecommunications and data management has a combination cable organizer for routing cabling and conductor termination array for wiring connections. A conductor termination array is mounted on the upper edge of a plate. Guide walls extend across the plate front surface, defining channels for directing the cable conductors across the plate front surface for retaining the cable conductors. The cable conductors are sheathed up to the termination array.

Interchangeable Adapter Face Plates

US Patent:
62426982, Jun 5, 2001
Filed:
Dec 8, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/207594
Inventors:
Frank Phillips Baker - Chatham NJ
Golam Mabud Choudhury - Warren NJ
Theodore Alan Conorich - Lake Hiawatha NJ
Lyndon Dee Ensz - Omaha NE
Wayne Scott Filus - Lebanon NJ
William John Ivan - Woodbridge NJ
John Anthony Rutkowski - Jackson NJ
Assignee:
Avaya Technology Corporation - Holmdel NJ
International Classification:
H01B 300
H02G 300
US Classification:
174 72A
Abstract:
A cable management system includes an adapter plate disposed between a panel and a cabling component, such as a wiring block or wiring trough. The adapter plate includes a first plurality of fasteners and a first plurality of alignment pins extending orthogonally from a first surface, and second plurality of fasteners and a second plurality of alignment pins extending orthogonally from a second surface. The first plurality of fasteners engage tabs formed on the panel and the second plurality of fasteners engage features formed on the cabling component. The first plurality of alignment pins are disposed to engage alignment apertures formed in the panel. The second plurality of alignment pins are disposed to engage alignment apertures formed in the cabling component. The adapter plate can include an abutment portion disposed to abut the panel and cooperate with the first plurality of fasteners to position the adapter plate relative to the panel. The adapter plate can also include integrally molded cabling components to reduce the number of piece parts required for installation of a cabling system.

Mounting Of Protectors In Connector Blocks

View page
US Patent:
56430140, Jul 1, 1997
Filed:
May 17, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/442898
Inventors:
Wayne Scott Filus - Lebanon NJ
Antonio Albino Figueiredo - Belleville NJ
Adam Stuart Kane - Morristown NJ
Theodore Edward Kluska - Glen Rock NJ
Wayne David Larsen - Indianapolis NJ
Jeremia Patrick Starace - Nutley NJ
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H01R 1364
US Classification:
439680
Abstract:
A mounting arrangement between connector modules of a double-sided modular connecting block and polarity sensitive current and voltage limiting circuit protection devices. Connector modules having multiple pairs of insulation displacement connecting (IDC) terminals are insertable into a mounting bracket to form the double-sided connecting block. Exclusionary posts are selectively molded into a front and rear side of the connector modules and correspond to each pair of terminals. The posts on the front of a connector module align and mate with a cavity included on a front-mounted current and voltage limiting protection device. Similarly posts molded in a different location on the rear side of the connector module align and mate with a cavity included in a rear-mounted protection module. The corresponding posts and cavities create an exclusionary key and slot interface which prevents circuit protection devices of improper polarity from being inserted within the wrong side of a connector module. The exclusionary mounting scheme ensures against erroneous installation of circuit protection devices which can disrupt communications and provide inadequate circuit protection.

Hingeable Wiring Block

View page
US Patent:
60273690, Feb 22, 2000
Filed:
Oct 9, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/169529
Inventors:
Theordore Alan Conorich - Parsippany NJ
Wayne Scott Filus - Lebanon NJ
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H01R 1360
US Classification:
439532
Abstract:
A hingeable leg subassembly for a wiring block of the type having a wiring base includes a wiring base support and a foot spaced away from the wiring base support along the leg. The foot has a lower surface and a generally opposite upper surface which defines an aperture therethrough. The aperture has an entrance at the upper surface, having a first size which is less than a second size at an exit on the lower surface. A wiring block is formed with two of the hingeable leg subassemblies, with a wiring base affixed to the hingeable leg subassemblies and a wiring strip supported by the wiring base is also disclosed.

Adjustable Modular Panel

View page
US Patent:
61063290, Aug 22, 2000
Filed:
Dec 4, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/205767
Inventors:
Frank Phillips Baker - Chatham NJ
Theodore Alan Conorich - Parsippany Township NJ
Wayne Scott Filus - Lebanon NJ
Michael Gregory German - Secaucus NJ
William John Ivan - Woodbridge NJ
Assignee:
Lucent Technologies Inc. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
H01R 1360
US Classification:
439532
Abstract:
An adjustable modular panel for partially housing data carrying cables and facilitating connection between the cables and communication equipment. The modular panel includes first and second panel portions, each having an engaging edge for mating with each other and for forming between the first and second portions a trough having an area in which the cables are at least partially housed. A fastening device in the panel portions is releasably operable to secure the two panel portions together. Each panel further includes a mounting surface to which connection devices are mountable. In a preferred embodiment, a third panel having a pair of engaging edges is disposed between the first and second panel portions so that the engaging edges of the third panel mate with the engaging edges of the first and second panel portions, thereby expanding the trough area to accommodate an increased number of cables and/or cables having increased dimensions.
