Oct 31, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/263001
Inventors:
Wade Jonathon Helfer - Ames IA, US
Assignee:
Fisher Controls International, LLC - Marshalltown IA
International Classification:
F16K 31/44
US Classification:
251242, 251231, 251292
Abstract:
Rotary actuator lever apparatus having an annular recess are described. An example rotary actuator lever includes a cylindrical body that has a first opening and a second opening axially aligned with the first opening, and sized larger than the first opening. The lever arm extends a predetermined distance from the body and has a first arm member spaced from a second arm member. Each of the first and second arm members includes an aperture to receive a fastener to operatively couple the lever to a stem of an actuator. The body includes an annular recess adjacent the first arm member of the lever arm to enable the first arm member to flex relative to the second arm member when the lever couples to the actuator stem.

Flexible Seals For Process Control Valves

View page
US Patent:
8286938, Oct 16, 2012
Filed:
Apr 27, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/741258
Inventors:
Wade Jonathon Helfer - Ames IA, US
David John Koester - Gladbrook IA, US
Benjamin Uriah Good - Marshalltown IA, US
Paul Russell Dalluge - Marshalltown IA, US
Andrew John Olson - Brookings SD, US
Assignee:
Fisher Controls International LLC - St. Louis MO
International Classification:
F16K 1/42
US Classification:
251174, 251180, 251306, 251314, 251359
Abstract:
Flexible seals for process control valves are disclosed. An example disclosed seal includes a seal for use with a butterfly valve. The example seal includes a substantially flexible ring-shaped carrier configured to be fixed within the butterfly valve and to surround a flow control aperture therein. Additionally, the seal includes a ring-shaped cartridge coupled to an inner diameter of the ring-shaped carrier. The cartridge includes a first portion and a second portion coupled to the first portion to define a circumferential opening to hold a seal ring.

Collets For Use With Valves

View page
US Patent:
8408837, Apr 2, 2013
Filed:
Oct 31, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/262967
Inventors:
Wade Jonathon Helfer - Ames IA, US
Jason Gene Olberding - Marshalltown IA, US
Assignee:
Fisher Controls International, LLC - Marshalltown IA
International Classification:
F16K 31/00
US Classification:
403371, 251292, 251304
Abstract:
Collets for coupling rotary actuators to valves are disclosed. An example collet includes a first plurality of flexible members configured to be coupled to an elongated member and each having a first inner surface and a first outer surface. The first inner surface and the first outer surface define a first cross-sectional shape. The example collet further includes a second plurality of flexible members configured to be coupled to the elongated member and each having a second inner surface and a second outer surface. The second inner surface and the second outer surface define a second cross-sectional shape that is different from the first cross-sectional shape of the first plurality of flexible members. The first and the second outer surfaces are to engage a third inner surface of an opening of a lever that is configured to cause the first and the second plurality of flexible members to be displaced toward an axis of the elongated member to cause the first and the second inner surfaces to engage one or more surfaces of the rectangular shaft.

Control Valve Trim And Bore Seal

View page
US Patent:
20040149950, Aug 5, 2004
Filed:
Feb 4, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/358050
Inventors:
William Fitzgerald - Melbourne IA, US
Cecil Eggleston - Marshalltown IA, US
Wade Helfer - Ames IA, US
Donald Bush - Marshalltown IA, US
International Classification:
F16K039/00
US Classification:
251/282000
Abstract:
An ANSI Leakage Class V control valve having consistent shut off characteristics with a reduced actuator force required to open and close the valve is provided. The trim arrangement of the control valve includes a valve cage having a multi-contoured inner surface. The multi-contoured inner surface can include a plurality of surfaces. The multi-contoured surface can include first, second, and third perimeter surfaces, and a first transition surface disposed between and coupling the first and second perimeter surfaces, and a second transition surface disposed between and coupling the second and third perimeter surfaces. The valve also includes a valve plug disposed at one end of a valve stem. The valve plug controls the fluid flow through the valve. The valve plug includes an opening through the plug for equalizing pressure across the valve plug. An annular channel is formed within a wall of the valve plug and is sized to accommodate a sealing ring. The sealing ring engages the second perimeter surface to form a fluid seal that substantially hinders fluid leakage through the valve.
