Techniques For Establishment And Use Of A Point-To-Point Tunnel Between Source And Target Devices

View page
US Patent:
7685292, Mar 23, 2010
Filed:
Apr 6, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/399593
Inventors:
Joe Kinsella - Reading MA, US
Vikram Pillai - Westford MA, US
Andi Abes - Somerville MA, US
Dave Rodger - Arlington MA, US
Assignee:
Dell Marketing USA L.P. - Round Rock TX
International Classification:
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
709227, 709223
Abstract:
Described are techniques to establish an on-demand, secure, point-to-point tunnel between a source device of a source network to a target device of a target network. The target network may not be visible to the source network. The target network includes a tunnel client and a tunnel server may be a perimeter device of the source network. The tunnel client may send a first message to the tunnel server. Data may be transmitted from the source to target device by including the data in a return message in response to the first message. The first message and the return message may be sent over one or more “heartbeat” connections which are continually established and torn down to transmit data between the two networks, and the source and target devices therein.

Distributed Network Monitoring And Control System

View page
US Patent:
20020052950, May 2, 2002
Filed:
Dec 7, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/010915
Inventors:
Vikram Pillai - Billerica MA, US
Joseph Kinsella - Reading MA, US
Patrick Bray - Northboro MA, US
Noah White - Danvers MA, US
Deborah MacCallum - Nashua NH, US
Robert Klotz - Groton MA, US
Gregory Bruell - Carlisle MA, US
Assignee:
SILVERBACK TECHNOLOGIES, INC.
International Classification:
G06F015/173
US Classification:
709/224000
Abstract:
A distributed system and method for performing network monitoring including an infrastructure management appliance located within a customer premises. The infrastructure management appliance collects and aggregates relevant information regarding the status and performance of one or more of the customer's information technology resources. The infrastructure management appliance may support some number of integrated management and reporting applications. A secure virtual connection between the infrastructure management appliance and a remote data center may be used to convey management information from the infrastructure management appliance to the data center, and also to pass information defining the customer specific configuration and functional operation of the infrastructure management appliance from the remote data center to the infrastructure management appliance.

Xml File System

View page
US Patent:
20020129000, Sep 12, 2002
Filed:
Dec 10, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/016493
Inventors:
Vikram Pillai - Billerica MA, US
Joseph Kinsella - Reading MA, US
Gregory Bruell - Carlisle MA, US
International Classification:
G06F007/00
US Classification:
707/001000
Abstract:
A system for providing a name space to a computer program, including a document representing a file system for services available on a computer system. The document defines a name space for the services, and is organized as a tree structure having multiple nodes, such as XML nodes. The nodes include at least one directory node representing a system directory, and at least one file node. A system area within the document defines type attributes corresponding the file nodes and the directory nodes, and which distinguish between the file nodes and the directory nodes. The system area further includes access control attributes for the file nodes in the document, and a physical file attribute corresponding to each the file nodes. The physical file attributes define locations of physical files corresponding to the file type nodes, while the access control attributes specify actions permitted using the physical files.

Methods And Apparatus To Predict An Impact Of A Source Code Change On A Cloud Infrastructure

View page
US Patent:
20230035197, Feb 2, 2023
Filed:
Jan 28, 2022
Appl. No.:
17/588060
Inventors:
- Palo Alto CA, US
Vikram Pillai - Boston MA, US
Taylor Bruce - Boston MA, US
Rob Curtis - Boston MA, US
Stephen Morin - Boston MA, US
Tammy Steffen - San Francisco CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 9/50
G06F 9/445
G06F 8/51
Abstract:
Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture to determine an impact of a source code change on a cloud infrastructure are disclosed. One such system includes an infrastructure difference identifier to identify a difference between a proposed cloud infrastructure and an existing cloud infrastructure, and an infrastructure analyzer to (i) identify new infrastructure equipment to be added to the existing infrastructure based on the infrastructure modification, (ii) obtain identities some of the new infrastructure equipment that are candidates for right-sizing based on an infrastructure equipment grouping into which some of the new infrastructure equipment is to be placed, (iii) obtain information identifying a cost associated with different infrastructure equipment to deploy in place of the candidates, the different infrastructure equipment being right-sized for the grouping; and (iv) generate a report identifying an amount of savings that can be achieved by deploying the different infrastructure equipment in place of the new infrastructure equipment.

System And Method For Run-Time Adaptable Policy Engine For Heterogeneous Managed Entities

View page
US Patent:
20190318019, Oct 17, 2019
Filed:
Apr 12, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/952181
Inventors:
- Boston MA, US
Adam Paul Schepis - Milford MA, US
Vikram K. Pillai - Westford MA, US
Joe Kinsella - Reading MA, US
Assignee:
CloudHealth Technologies, Inc. - Boston MA
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method of executing a policy-based operation on a shared computer infrastructure includes storing in a computer memory a dynamically extensible metadata system that is in communication with a processor that executes policy-based operations, where the dynamically extensible metadata system includes a data structure, a collection method, a policy processing method, and a policy condition. The collection method is then executed to collect data from a first computer resource in the shared computer infrastructure using a first data structure and from a second computer resource in the shared computer infrastructure using a second data structure, where the first data structure and the second data structure are different data structures. The collected data is then processed with the policy processing method to determine if the collected data meets the policy condition.
