Method Of Forming Composite Ultrahigh Molecular Weight Polyethylene Material

View page
US Patent:
6641769, Nov 4, 2003
Filed:
Mar 27, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/818472
Inventors:
Todd Huntimer - Arlington SD
Assignee:
Global Polymer Industries, Inc. - Arlington SD
International Classification:
B29C 4514
US Classification:
264250, 264255, 264266, 264274
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a composite article having joined ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene and melt-flowable polyethylene portions and method of making the same. The ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene portion has a textured surface with a pattern of ribs which may vary in shape and configuration, such as a series of parallel ribs or a plurality of pins of various cross-sectional shapes, e. g. , oval, round or rectangles. The melt-flowable polyethylene portion is melt-bonded to or fused to the ribs of the ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene portion providing high bond strengths between the two portions. In the method of the invention, a ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene portion having a rib surface is contacted with molten, melt-flowable polyethylene. The molten, melt-flowable polyethylene is at a sufficient temperature that the temperature of the ribs is raised quickly to a temperature enabling the melt-flowable polyethylene to strongly melt-bond to the ribbed surface.

Yaw Control System For A Vehicle-Trailer Combination

View page
US Patent:
7905555, Mar 15, 2011
Filed:
Aug 16, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/840068
Inventors:
Todd M. Huntimer - Arlington SD, US
Assignee:
Global Polymer Industries, Inc. - Arlington SD
International Classification:
B60T 13/00
US Classification:
303 7, 188112 A, 188112 R, 188 3 R, 2804551, 280432, 340431
Abstract:
A yaw control system capable of detecting a predetermined yaw angle of a towed vehicle and then automatically communicating with a braking system of the towed vehicle includes an actuator and a switch. The actuator and switch operate to detect when a towed vehicle, such as a trailer, has exceeded a predetermined yaw angle. In one embodiment, the yaw control system includes a switch arranged to contact a surface of a plate (i. e. , actuator) when the towed vehicle exceeds the predetermined yaw angle. In another embodiment, the yaw control system includes a switch mechanism arranged to contact retractable rods (i. e. , actuator) coupled to a hitch assembly when the towed vehicle exceeds the predetermined yaw angle.

Dual Purpose Snowmobile Snow Flap

View page
US Patent:
8550514, Oct 8, 2013
Filed:
Sep 6, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/226312
Inventors:
Todd M. Huntimer - Arlington SD, US
Assignee:
Slydog, Inc. - Arlington SD
International Classification:
E01H 5/02
US Classification:
294 51, 280847
Abstract:
A snow flap for a snowmobile functions as a removable snow shovel blade. The handle may be used as a pivot attachment for the blade to the snowmobile and may be alternatively attached to the blade in a different orientation for use as a shovel. Quick release attachment of the blade to the rear of the snowmobile permits ease of use.

Snowmobile Ski With Increased Stability

View page
US Patent:
20060163826, Jul 27, 2006
Filed:
Jan 24, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/041668
Inventors:
Todd Huntimer - Arlington SD, US
Jody Lemme - Arlington SD, US
Daniel Palli - Nunda SD, US
International Classification:
A63C 1/30
US Classification:
280011180
Abstract:
A snowmobile ski having improved turn stability. The ski includes a lower surface for sliding contact with snow, the lower surface being configured with at least one longitudinally extending, downwardly open groove having an internal cross-section dimension that diminishes rearwardly to thereby progressively constrict the groove. The groove is open forwardly to receive snow within it and is open rearwardly to enable snow to exit from the groove. Snow received within the groove becomes packed when such snow encounters the progressively constricted portions of the groove as the ski slides forwardly on a snowy surface.

Wheel With Mechanically Bonded Rim For Tracked Vehicles

View page
US Patent:
20070247002, Oct 25, 2007
Filed:
Apr 19, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/379281
Inventors:
Todd Huntimer - Arlington SD, US
Daniel Palli - Nunda SD, US
International Classification:
B62D 55/14
US Classification:
305136000
Abstract:
An endless track drive system includes a track and multiple shafts bearing outer flanges integrally secured proximate first and second ends of the shaft and a middle flange integrally secured to the shaft between the first and second outer flanges. A central wheel secures to the middle flange and engages the track. The central wheel is formed of first and second semi-circular sections combinable to form a circle. Each half section includes a rim made of polyurethane, or like polymer and a hub made of an ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) polymer. The hub bears a plurality of projections extending radially outwardly and having a proximal portion secured to the hub and a distal portion forming an outermost portion of the hub. The distal portions are substantially larger in the circumferential direction than the proximal portion. The rim is molded around the plurality of projections.

Fifth Wheel Reduced-Friction Plate

US Patent:
20080164677, Jul 10, 2008
Filed:
Jan 4, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/620003
Inventors:
Todd M. Huntimer - Arlington SD, US
Assignee:
Global Polymer Industries, Inc. - Arlington SD
International Classification:
B62D 53/08
B21D 53/10
US Classification:
280433, 2989807
Abstract:
A fifth wheel hitch lube plate includes a support plate moldably coupled to a cover. By way of example, the support plate is a metallic plate with a number of openings and/or cavities. Some of the openings are configured to receive fasteners while other openings, referred to as cover locking cavities, are configured to cooperate with the cover during the molding operation to mechanically lock or couple the cover to the support plate. The cover locking cavities include an upper, narrow passage that is in communication with a lower, larger cavity. At least a portion of the cover is supported by a top surface of the support plate.
