US Patent:
7544057, Jun 9, 2009
Filed:
Nov 9, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/984632
Inventors:
Thomas A Wayts - Paris OH, US
International Classification:
B29C 45/04
US Classification:
425575, 2643287
Abstract:
A molding system for forming an article of composite material including a track, a mold supported on the track, the mold defining a mold cavity, an injection tube supported adjacent the mold and in fluid communication with the mold cavity, the injection tube being fluidly connected to a source of the composite material, wherein the composite material is fed into the mold cavity via the injection tube and wherein the mold is adapted to move injection tube as the composite material is fed into the mold progressively increasing the volume of the mold cavity.

US Patent:
6583211, Jun 24, 2003
Filed:
Dec 12, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/735028
Inventors:
Thomas A. Wayts - Paris OH, 44669
International Classification:
C08K 304
US Classification:
524495, 521 40, 521 41, 521 42, 521 43, 521 44, 521 45, 524434, 524435, 524440
Abstract:
A moldable heterogeneous composite material has a continuous plastic phase ( ) and a discrete phase of unground rubber ( ) dispersed in the continuous phase. The composite material can be formed from thermoplastic or thermosetting materials and pieces of rubber from used tires. The composite material of the present invention can be molded in a process having the steps of providing a flowable melt of plastic material ( ), providing unground rubber pieces ( ), mixing the plastic material with the rubber pieces to form a composite material, and molding the composite material into an article ( ) having a desired shape. Molded articles formed from the composite of the present invention have high rigidity and good durability.
