Filed:
May 18, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/467423
Inventors:
Theodore Michael Bryson - Fayetteville NC, US
L. Steven Cline - Fayetteville NC, US
Christopher Eichler - Hope Mills NC, US
Assignee:
Purolator Filters NA LLC - Fayetteville NC
International Classification:

B01D 27/14
US Classification:
210130, 210342, 210440, 210DIG 13, 210DIG 17
Abstract:
A fluid filter has an outer case with a side wall, a closed first end wall, and a second end wall defining fluid inlet and outlet openings, as well as a filter cartridge received within the outer case. The filter cartridge includes a substantially cylindrical full flow filter element, providing for passage of a major portion of fluid entering the filter, and a substantially cylindrical bypass filter element, providing for passage of a minor portion of fluid entering the filter and disposed radially within and surrounded circumferentially by the full flow filter element. By way of the particular fluid filter configuration disclosed, a simple alternative to known filters having full flow and bypass filters located in common housings is provided.

US Patent:
20070227983, Oct 4, 2007
Filed:
Mar 31, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/394182
Inventors:
Theodore Bryson - Fayetteville NC, US
Ibrahim Khalil - Barrington IL, US
International Classification:
B01D 37/00
US Classification:
210767000, 210434000
Abstract:
A fluid filter includes a filtered flow and a bypass flow. In particular, a fluid filter insert includes a first end cap, a second end cap, a screen disposed between the first and the second end caps, and a filter media surrounding the screen. Further, a method of filtering a fluid includes passing a first portion of the fluid through a fluid filter inlet, passing a second portion of the fluid through a filter media, and passing the first and the second portions through a filter outlet. In addition, a fluid filter includes a bypass inlet, a filter media inlet coaxial with the bypass inlet, an outlet axially spaced from the bypass inlet, and a housing surrounding the bypass inlet, the filter media inlet and the outlet. Further, the fluid filter provides that the bypass inlet is dimensioned to permit a predetermined amount of flow.

US Patent:
61714925, Jan 9, 2001
Filed:
Feb 4, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/244855
Inventors:

US Classification:
210243
Abstract:
An improved filter for liquid fuel housing an elongated tubular housing with a cylindrical wall and having an inlet end and an outlet end and including an integral inlet connector portion at the inlet end and an integral outlet connector portion at the outlet end and a filter element positioned within the tubular housing and having filter media defining a central passageway closed at one end, the passageway having an opposite end in communication with the housing outlet connector portion, the filter media having an external surface in communication with the housing inlet connector portion so that liquid fuel flowing through the housing flows through the filter media, the housing cylindrical wall being formed of an inner wall portion and an outer wall portion with a space therebetween providing a housing that resists static electric induced sparks passing therethrough.
