Methods, Devices, And Kits For Microjet Drug Delivery

View page
US Patent:
20080091139, Apr 17, 2008
Filed:
Jun 19, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/820591
Inventors:
Ravi Srinivasan - Mountain View CA, US
Richard Urso - Fremont CA, US
Ameya Kantak - Sunnyvale CA, US
Christoph Pistor - Mountain View CA, US
Takashi Yogi - Santa Cruz CA, US
International Classification:
A61M 5/30
US Classification:
604068000
Abstract:
Described here are methods, devices, and kits for microjet drug delivery. The devices described here may be modular or non-modular. The modular devices typically include a first module having a drug reservoir and a nozzle in fluid communication with the drug reservoir and a second module having an actuator and a power supply. The power supply provides power to the actuator and when the first and second modules are coupled, the actuator is capable of acting on a dispensing member causing it to dispense a drug in liquid form from the drug reservoir via the nozzle at a velocity sufficient to penetrate skin. Other devices described include a nozzle, a reservoir in fluid communication with the nozzle, a dispensing member, and an actuator. In these devices, the nozzle has at least one feature that enhances nozzle contact with the skin in order to reduce lateral drug leakage about the nozzle.

External Sensing For Implant Rupture

US Patent:
20090012372, Jan 8, 2009
Filed:
Oct 30, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/929263
Inventors:
Daniel Burnett - San Francisco CA, US
Noel Johnson - Saratoga CA, US
Gregory Hall - Redwood City CA, US
Joseph Gryskiewicz - Edina MN, US
Takashi Yogi - Santa Cruz CA, US
Assignee:
Novalert, Inc. - Saratoga CA
International Classification:
A61B 5/00
G08B 23/00
US Classification:
600300, 3405731
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and a method for sensing for the rupture of an implant (such as a breast implant) that has been implanted in body tissues or in an organ of a patient. In one embodiment, a system according to the present invention includes, among other possible things, a sensor coupled to an outer surface of the implant and configured to measure a property at the outer surface of the implant, for example, electrical conduction, chemical composition, or an optical property that is indicative of whether an implant rupture has occurred. The sensor is also configured to transmit a wireless signal to a device external to the body, which alerts the patient or a healthcare provider whether the measured property indicates that the implant rupture may have occurred.

Wireless Patch Temperature Sensor System

US Patent:
20060122473, Jun 8, 2006
Filed:
Oct 13, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/249927
Inventors:
Robert Kill - Brighton MI, US
Takashi Yogi - Santa Cruz CA, US
Jeff Simpson - Santa Cruz CA, US
Sean Murphy - San Francisco CA, US
International Classification:
A61B 5/00
US Classification:
600300000, 340870170
Abstract:
An electronic thermometer for measuring and displaying the temperature of an object comprising: a patch for placement on the object, the patch including an electrical circuit including an electronic temperature sensor that outputs a signal indicative of the temperature of the object and a patch antenna; a receiver including an antenna for generating a magnetic field that is useful in powering the patch, the receiver receiving signals transmitted from the patch indicative of the temperature of the object, the receiver including a circuit for converting the signals from the patch to signals that are compatible with a monitor; and a monitor for receiving signals from the receiver indicative of the temperature of the object and displaying the temperature of the object.
