Multi-Hemisphere Color Crt

View page
US Patent:
6741296, May 25, 2004
Filed:
Jan 4, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/477749
Inventors:
Lawrence Edward Leise - Cary NC
Susan Ann Luerich - Cary NC
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
H04N 565
US Classification:
348820, 348806, 348829, 348831
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a color CRT system that can be easily adapted for installations in either the northern or the southern hemisphere. The CRT is symmetrical with respect to its yamming or set up for the earths magnetic field so the CRT can be installed in either a normal or an inverted orientation. Likewise the yoke and yoke connector are designed and can be easily installed so the CRT scan starts in the upper left of the CRT in either the normal or inverted installation. The connectors for the neck video card are designed to exit the side of the card so the wires can be routed to the CRT system card in either CRT installation orientation. Finally the anode wire is made with a length and attachment point such that the anode is wireable when the CRT is in the normal or inverted orientation. Also disclosed are visual orientation markings on the CRT, the yoke and yoke connectors and the neck video card connectors so it is easy to visually see when all elements are correctly installed for either the northern or the southern hemisphere installations.

Infrared Touch Screen Gated By Touch Force

US Patent:
8130202, Mar 6, 2012
Filed:
May 1, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/742680
Inventors:
James L. Levine - Yorktown Heights NY, US
Susan A. Luerich - Cary NC, US
Duane Scott Miller - Wake Forest NC, US
Assignee:

International Classification:
G09G 5/00
US Classification:
345173, 345175, 178 1809
Abstract:
A touch-sensitive display device includes a display. A transparent plate is provided in front of the display. A tactile sensor senses a touch event. One or more infrared sensors are positioned in front of the transparent plate. The one or more infrared sensors identify a location of the touch event when the tactile sensor detects a touch event.

Electronic Touch Screen Device Providing Signature Capture And Touch Activation

View page
US Patent:
20090141008, Jun 4, 2009
Filed:
Dec 4, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/950189
Inventors:
Richard Walter Johnson - Raleigh NC, US
Charles Ray Kirk - Raleigh NC, US
Susan Ann Luerich - Cary NC, US
Assignee:
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 3/033
US Classification:
345179
Abstract:
A touch screen device comprising a display screen, an electromagnetic digitizer disposed behind the display screen for detecting stylus proximity and stylus coordinates, and an infrared touch device secured in front of the display screen for detecting the coordinates of an infrared opaque object. The touch screen device also includes a controller in electronic communication with the electromagnetic digitizer and the infrared touch device. The controller provides an output signal based upon the infrared opaque object coordinates detected by the infrared touch device during periods of time that the electromagnetic digitizer is not detecting stylus proximity and provides an output signal based upon the stylus coordinates detected by the electromagnetic digitizer during periods of time that the electromagnetic digitizer is detecting stylus proximity. The touch screen device may be used in conjunction with a point-of-sale terminal providing a signal to the display screen and receiving the output signals from the controller.

Fiscal Printer Video With Application Program

US Patent:
6556216, Apr 29, 2003
Filed:
Mar 13, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/523837
Inventors:
Robert Thomas Cato - Raleigh NC
Wayne Roger Hucaby - Raleigh NC
Susan Ann Luerich - Cary NC
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G09G 504
US Classification:
345629, 345547, 348600
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a method and system for controlling a system display from the processor controlling a fiscal printer. The system display is controlled by generating an overlay image in a storage device along with overlay image selector data. The overlay image selector data is used to control modifying circuits that can substitute or otherwise modify, with overlay image data, all or a portion of the system display image generated by application software. Since the fiscal printer hardware and firmware is not a part of the particular application software running on a point of sale device the control function of the fiscal printer need not require modification of application software or hardware.
