Abstract:
A black toner of toner particles including at least one binder, at least one black colorant, and a package of external additives is described, wherein the at least one binder includes a styrene acrylate binder and wherein the external additives include each of a first silica having an average particle size of from about 35 to about 45 nm, a second silica having an average particle size of from about 135 to about 160 nm, and a titania having an average particle size of from about 35 to about 45 nm. Also described is a developer that includes the black toner and carrier particles comprising a core of ferrite coated with a coating comprising a polymethyl methacrylate polymer and fluoro-copolymer, carbon black and melamine beads. The black toner and developer are preferably used in a semiconductive magnetic brush development system.

Abstract:
A toner composition includes toner particles having at least one spacer of latex particles or polymer particles attached to the toner particles, in which the latex or polymer particles have an average particle size of from about 60 nm to about 500 nm. The presence of the spacer enables improved toner transfer efficiency maintainability while maintaining excellent tribo level, tribo stability with aging, charge through performance and cohesion behavior with aging and includes forming toner particles with grinding, and following completion of the grinding step, attaching to the toner particles at least one spacer selected from the group consisting of latex particles and polymer particles, wherein the latex particles or polymer particles have an average particle size of from about 60 nm to about 500 nm.

Toner compositions are formed by selecting a portion of at least one metal-containing pigment or dye and a portion of at least one metal-free pigment or dye, at least one pigment or dye containing a regulated metal and/or material and at least one pigment or dye containing a non-regulated metal and/or material, at least two pigments or dye each containing a different regulated metal and/or material, or pigments or dyes which contain different regulated metals and/or materials in different concentrations to provide required toner properties while maintaining metal, regulated metal and/or regulated material content of a toner composition below a prescribed level, and dispersing the pigments together in the composition.
