W. Rex Bell Associate Member of the Year Award

The W. Rex Bell Associate Member award is given to deserving individuals who demonstrate a significant commitment and contribute the most to their department or company, the community at large and FARA. Stuart Forchheimer, president of Homesafe Security Systems, a division of the HS Technology Group, was honored for his exceptional contributions to FARA, his company and the community he serves. Brad Ship, executive director for FARA provided the following context regarding the decision to award Forchheimer with the award. “Stu owns a local alarm company and never draws attention to himself but is always there for FARA, his customers and his employees,” Ship said. “One of the nominations the FARA Awards Committee received stated, ‘If all alarm companies were as dedicated, ethical and professional as Stuart’s, we would all be looking for another line of work.’ His company has consistently low false dispatch rates in the Washington-Metropolitan region.

The company must be well rounded with community participation, charitable giving, strong relationships with the local authorities and much more. The SAMMY Awards is the industry's only program of its kind to recognize and honor installing security dealers and integrators for their marketing, business, installation and overall excellence.

The Howard County Chamber of Commerce Awards for Chamber Excellence (ACE) are presented on an annual basis to deserving Chamber members who have demonstrated a continuing commitment to the overall mission of the Chamber. Recipients must be Chamber members in good standing. There are seven award categories: Large Business of the Year (100 or more employees), Small Business of the Year (99 or less employees), Entrepreneur of the Year, Business Person of the Year, Young Professional of the Year, Chairman’s Award for Volunteer Service, and an Exemplar Award. Chamber Board members are not eligible for awards. Questron, a division of the HS Technology group, was the recipient of the Best Small Business of the Year in 2008.
"PDQ" Police Dispatch Quality Award for 2012
The Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) and the False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA)
Co-sponsored by SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION, Honeywell Security and the Installation Quality (IQ) Certification Program, each year the PDQ Award honors alarm installing and monitoring businesses for creating best practices that help prevent false alarm dispatches. HS Technology, which operates as Homesafe Security Systems, received the award during the SSI-sponsored Industry IceBreaker Luncheon at the Electronic Security Expo (ESX) in Nashville, Tenn. “What makes HS Technology unique is that it utilizes a third-party monitoring service,” SIAC Executive Director Stan Martin says. “Working with that provider, HS Technology demonstrates a superior practice of following up with new customers and those customers with previous dispatches in order to improve education and reduce the number of unnecessary dispatches.” Three judges evaluated companies on alarm rate, training, literature, use of industry-recommended practices like enhanced call verification (ECV), use of SIA CP-01 equipment, follow-up with customers and tracking problem accounts. The company’s winning application centered on its Baltimore region, where it posted a dispatch rate of 0.18 during 2011. In the past three years, HS Technology’s false alarm dispatch rate never exceeded 0.19, according to Steven Heggemann, manager for the Baltimore County Government’s False Alarm Reduction Section. “In effect, this means that [HS Technology’s] customers, on average, experience a false alarm less than once every five years,” he wrote in a letter included in HS Technology’s PDQ entry packet.
