DePuy Products, Inc. - Warsaw IN
International Classification:
A61F 2/30
US Classification:
623 2343, 606 99, 606 91
Abstract:
An extraction device for removing a liner from an acetabular cup is provided. The extraction device includes a body and an actuator. The actuator is operably connected to the body. The extraction device also includes a jaw for cooperation with the liner. The jaw includes a portion of the jaw for penetrating into the liner. The jaw is operably connected to the actuator. The actuator is adapted to cooperate with the jaw to provide a first position for the jaw spaced from the liner and a second position for the jaw in contact with the liner.

Torque-Turn Orthopaedic Bolt Tightening Method

US Patent:
8375555, Feb 19, 2013
Filed:
Jun 30, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/827389
Inventors:
Steven R. Leisinger - Columbia City IN, US
Assignee:
DePuy Synthes Products, LLC. - Warsaw IN
International Classification:
A61B 17/04
A61B 17/58
US Classification:
2952511, 606102, 623 16, 623 18, 623 22, 623 23
Abstract:
A method of assembling an orthopaedic implant includes positioning a first orthopaedic component in contact with a second orthopaedic component and coupling the first orthopaedic component to the second orthopaedic component with a bolt. The method also includes applying an empirically-determined starting torque to the bolt such that the first orthopaedic component is coupled to the second orthopaedic component with a first predetermined clamp load. The bolt is then rotated by an empirically-determined rotation angle such that the first orthopaedic component is coupled to the second orthopaedic component with a second predetermined clamp load.

Spiral Assembly Tool

US Patent:
8533921, Sep 17, 2013
Filed:
Jun 15, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/815915
Inventors:
Steven R. Leisinger - Columbia City IN, US
Daniel N. Huff - Warsaw IN, US
Donald E. McNulty - Warsaw IN, US
Rodney N. Satterthwaite - Huntington IN, US
Assignee:
Depuy Synthes Products, LLC - Raynham MA
International Classification:
B23P 19/04
A61B 17/58
US Classification:
29244, 606 99, 29264, 29252
Abstract:
An assembly tool for assembly of a first component of a prosthesis to a second component of the prosthesis for use in joint arthroplasty. The tool includes a first member operably associated with the first component and defines a first member longitudinal axis thereof. A second member is operably associated with the second component and defines a second member longitudinal axis thereof. A washer system is coupled to the second member. A drive mechanism is coupled to washer system, such that as the drive mechanism is activated, the washer system rotates about the second member longitudinal axis and expands along the second member longitudinal axis, wherein such movement further causes the second member to move relative to the first member along the second member longitudinal axis.

US Patent:
8556912, Oct 15, 2013
Filed:
Oct 30, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/927811
Inventors:
Steven R. Leisinger - Silver Lake IN, US
Assignee:
Depuy Synthes Products, LLC - Raynham MA
International Classification:
A61B 17/58
US Classification:
606 99
Abstract:
A disassembly tool for disassembly of a first component of a prosthesis from a second component of the prosthesis for use in joint arthroplasty. The tool includes a body having an internal bore. At least a portion of the internal bore is threaded for engagement with a thread on the first component of the prosthesis. The tool further includes an expandable ring surrounding a portion of the body and adapted to engage the first component, such that when a radial force is applied to the body, the ring expands, applying an axial force against the first component.
