US Patent:
7452954, Nov 18, 2008
Filed:
Nov 5, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/579227
Inventors:
Abel Grosjean - Shoreacres TX, US
Steven Don Sandstrum - Kingwood TX, US
John Mark Zimmerman - Houston TX, US
Assignee:
Ineos Manufacturing Belgium NV - Antwerp
International Classification:
C08F 110/02
C08F 210/02
C08F 4/24
US Classification:
526352, 526106, 526113, 526348
Abstract:
The invention relates to a polymer of ethylene which has a μ/μratio of at least 13; and a high load melt index HLMI lower than 8 g /10 min, and a value of tan δ at ω/ωc=0. 01 of less than 1. 3, where δ is G″/G′, ω is the frequency at which G″ and G′ are measured and we is the frequency at which G″=G′, and G and G″ are respectively the elastic modulus and viscous modulus, both measured in Pa at 190 C. ; a process for making the polymer using a catalyst comprising chromium supported on a silica-titania support is also described.

Filed:
Apr 4, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/825857
Inventors:
Daniel Marissal - Houston TX
Robert E. Sander - Houston TX
Paul Fiasse - Houston TX
Ross M. Mahan - Humble TX
Steven D. Sandstrum - Kingwood TX
Assignee:
Solvay Polyolefins Europe-Belgium - Brussels
International Classification:
C08F11002
B60R 1301
US Classification:
526352
Abstract:
An ethylene homopolymer having a density of from about 0. 956 to about 0. 970 g/cm. sup. 3 and a high load melt index (190. degree. C. and 21. 6 kg) of from about 7 to about 21 g/10 min. A continuous polymerization process for the production of the ethylene homopolymer, in the presence of a diluent chosen from the group consisting essentially of n-butane, n-hexane, n-heptane, isobutane, isopentane, isooctane, 2,2-dimethylpropane, cyclopentane, cyclohexane and their mixtures, wherein ethylene is brought into contact with a chromium oxide catalyst deposited on an inorganic support containing from about 0. 1 to about 5 wt % chromium and activated at a temperature from about 600 to about 900. degree. C. , at a polymerization temperature from about 55 to about 150. degree. C. , the ethylene concentration in the diluent being from about 1 to about 10 mol %.
