View page
US Patent:
20080161266, Jul 3, 2008
Filed:
Dec 20, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/961447
Inventors:
Dharmendra M. Jani - Fairport NY, US
Stephen E. Maier - Brockport NY, US
International Classification:
A61K 31/717
A61P 27/02
A61K 47/36
A61K 31/155
A61K 47/10
US Classification:
514 57, 514779, 514635, 514772
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an ophthalmic composition comprising alginate having a minimum of about 0% and a maximum of about 50% guluronic units bound to an adjacent guluronic unit as a percentage of the total number of monomeric units in the alginate. The composition further includes a cationic antimicrobial agent. The alginate set forth above forms less deactivating complexes with cationic antimicrobial agent, and thus, the composition has improved preservative efficacy.

Composition And Method For Inhibiting Of Protein On Contact Lens

View page
US Patent:
63231654, Nov 27, 2001
Filed:
Apr 25, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/558436
Inventors:
David J. Heiler - Avon NY
Stephen E. Maier - Brockport NY
Susan P. Spooner - Rochester NY
Assignee:
Bausch & Lomb Incorporated - Rochester NY
International Classification:
B08B 308
C11D 337
US Classification:
510112
Abstract:
The invention is directed to compositions and methods used as in-the-eye and/or out-of-eye inhibitors of proteinaceous deposits on hydrophilic contact lenses. Compositions of the present invention comprise moderately charged polyquaternium polymers that selectively bind to hydrophilic contact lenses to block the binding of proteinaceous materials. Compositions of the present invention may be used in multipurpose cleaning solutions for contact lenses and can eliminate the need for special enzyme cleaners and the like for removing proteinaceous materials.
