High Speed Memory And Processor System For Raster Display

View page
US Patent:
46480455, Mar 3, 1987
Filed:
May 23, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/613605
Inventors:
Stefan Demetrescu - Irvine CA
Assignee:
The Board of Trustees of the Leland Standford Jr. University - Palo Alto CA
International Classification:
G06F 1520
G06F 314
G09G 100
US Classification:
364518
Abstract:
Disclosed is a high speed memory system having a parallel architecture which is particularly advantageous in controlling a multiline raster scanned display. Data for a plurality of scan lines is processed in parallel, and pixel data for each of a plurality of scan lines is stored in a plurality of memory segments which can be accessed in parallel. Latch means is provided with each memory segment for latching pixel data for scan line control in order to allow continued manipulation of data stored in the memory segment while scan line data is extracted. A plurality of scan line processors are connected to a common bus which provides transformed data of primitives in display coordinates. Each scan line processor controls data for a plurality of scan lines, and a plurality of memory segments are connected with each scan line processor for storing and manipulating pixel data for the plurality of scan lines. Each memory segment includes a random access storage array and an arithmetic logic unit responsive to scan line number, start point, and end point data from the scan line processor for storing and accessing data in the random access storage array.

Dynamic Data Display System, As For Use With Eeg

US Patent:
43284914, May 4, 1982
Filed:
Mar 10, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/128414
Inventors:
Mihai C. Demetrescu - Irvine CA
Stefan G. Demetrescu - Irvine CA
International Classification:
G06K 1520
US Classification:
340747
Abstract:
A dynamic display system for discrete events of complex data carried by discrete electrical signals which indicate values in three coordinates as triads. One of the values may be an independent variable, e. g. , time. A cathode ray tube display apparatus is actuated by format signals to exhibit a pictorial three-dimensional perspective field of reference somewhat in the figure of an elongate box. The discrete electrical signals representative of data are processed to develop display signals to provide representative images in the field of reference. Specifically, the data events or elements are manifest in the form of lines or linear symbols that indicate coordinate values by symbol height and position. The independent variable, time, is scaled from an origin line in the field of reference to extend along the depth of perspective so that the linear symbols advance along the path of perspective to accomplish a dynamic display with the illusion of motion. The specific system herein displays EEG waves, indicating the magnitude and frequency of individual brain waves with respect to time of occurrence to provide a marching display of both present and recent past information in chronological order.
