System And Method For Mobile Electronic Messaging

View page
US Patent:
6813489, Nov 2, 2004
Filed:
Feb 26, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/375335
Inventors:
Christopher M. Wu - Atherton CA
Jay B. Baldemor - Yorba Linda CA
Patrick S. Loo - Fremont CA
Assignee:
Yahoo!; Inc. - Sunnyvale CA
International Classification:
H04M 1110
US Classification:
4554121, 455413, 709206
Abstract:
A method and system for transmitting a voice message to an electronic address, generally includes establishing a data connection between a first server of a voice messaging system and a wireless device so as to enable a user to access an electronic mail account. The first server then captures a wireless device identifier and accesses an association of the wireless device identifier to a telephone number of the wireless device. A call is then initiated from the wireless device to a second server of the voice messaging system to record a voice message. The previously stored recipient electronic address is retrieved using the captured telephone number and an email including a link to the voice message is generated. The email is then transmitted to the recipient electronic address.

Backup And Restore Mirror Database Memory Items In The Historical Record Backup Associated With The Client Application In A Mobile Device Connected To A Communion Network

View page
US Patent:
7584225, Sep 1, 2009
Filed:
Sep 2, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/933829
Inventors:
Zhaowei Charlie Jiang - San Jose CA, US
Christopher Wu - Atherton CA, US
Joy Sato - San Jose CA, US
Yingqing Lawrence Cui - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Yahoo! Inc. - Sunnyvale CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
G06F 17/00
G06F 13/00
G06F 15/16
US Classification:
707204, 707 1, 707 10, 707102, 707200, 711162, 709203
Abstract:
The need for backup and restore arises in a mobile device based system when a client application is discarded along with its historical record. In a system that provides the backup and restore capability, a server is configured with a request handler, an application storage upload/download handler, and a device storage mirror database. In a mobile device (also client), the transaction listener provides a transaction associated with memory items to the crumb sticker which, in turn, sends to the request handler a recording request with the transaction along with a request URL (uniform resource locator). The data for the recording request is channeled from the client storage to the device storage mirror database via the application storage upload/download handler. The memory items are accumulated in a file at the client and in a backup at the device storage mirror database, and are restorable to the client from the backup.

Upload Security Scheme

View page
US Patent:
7797529, Sep 14, 2010
Filed:
Sep 2, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/934645
Inventors:
Zhaowei Charlie Jiang - San Jose CA, US
Christopher Wu - Atherton CA, US
Joy Sato - San Jose CA, US
Yingqing Lawrence Cui - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Yahoo! Inc. - Sunnyvale CA
International Classification:
G06F 9/00
H04M 1/68
US Classification:
713151, 455410, 707899
Abstract:
The need for upload security arises during content sharing between users in communication link with each other and a server. In one embodiment, providing the upload security involves the server identifying a mobile device that sends an upload message destined to a user. Providing the upload security further involves the server accessing opt-in parameters predetermined by the user, determining if the identity of the sending mobile device is included in the opt-in parameters, and, if so, allowing the upload to the user's account, otherwise blocking the upload. The opt-in parameters include the identity of mobile devices that are authorized by the user to upload data to the user's account. In one embodiment, the communication link includes a wireless carrier network with capability for security screening of the upload message before it reaches the server based on the identity of the wireless carrier network.

'Back' Button In Mobile Applications

US Patent:
20050114798, May 26, 2005
Filed:
Jun 14, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/868416
Inventors:
Zhaowei Jiang - San Jose CA, US
Christopher Wu - Atherton CA, US
Joy Sato - San Jose CA, US
Yingqing Cui - San Jose CA, US
International Classification:
G06F017/00
G06F009/00
US Classification:
715864000
Abstract:
A wireless system includes a plurality of mobile devices equipped with a touch-activated ‘back’ command input, button or soft key, that prompts backwards navigation. The system further includes a carrier network, a network including at least the Internet, and a server. The plurality of mobile devices are interconnected with the server via the carrier network and the network and are capable of communicating with each other via the server. One or more than one mobile devices has a touch-activated ‘back’ command input and a memory with sufficient space for receiving a mobile client application from the server, wherein the mobile client application is responsive to the touch-activated ‘back’ command input by providing the backwards navigation through screens in ‘back in sequence’ mode or ‘back a level’ mode.

The mobile client application is responsive to the ‘back’ command input by providing for the backwards navigation through screens in ‘back in sequence’ mode and ‘back a level’ mode. The ‘back’ logic that provides the backwards navigation is implemented in the mobile client application outside the browser environment and independent of the platform.

Securely Accessing And Processing Data In A Multi-Tenant Data Store

View page
US Patent:
20190286832, Sep 19, 2019
Filed:
Mar 19, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/924840
Inventors:
- San Francisco CA, US
Christopher James Wu - Fremont CA, US
Ming-Yang Chen - Palo Alto CA, US
Karl Ryszard Skucha - Sunnyvale CA, US
Eli Levine - San Francisco CA, US
Ka Chun Au - Millbrae CA, US
Bilong Chen - Cupertino CA, US
Johnson Liu - Santa Clara CA, US
International Classification:
G06F 21/62
H04L 29/06
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and devices for data access and processing are described. To set up secure environments for data processing (e.g., including machine learning), an access control system may first receive approval from an authorized user (e.g., an approver) granting access to data objects in a multi-tenant data store. The system may determine tenant-specific paths for retrieving the data objects from the data store, and may initialize a number of virtual computing engines for accessing the data. Each computing engine may be tenant-specific based on the path(s) used by that computing engine, and each may include an access role defining the data objects or data object types accessible by that computing engine. By accessing the requested data objects according to the tenant-specific path prefixes and access roles, the virtual computing engines may securely maintain separate environments for different tenants and may only allow user access to approved tenant data.
