Dry Sprinkler Assembly

View page
US Patent:
7766252, Aug 3, 2010
Filed:
Feb 15, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/354644
Inventors:
Eldon D. Jackson - Hastings MI, US
Shawn J. Feenstra - Caledonia MI, US
Assignee:
The Viking Corporation - Hastings MI
International Classification:
A62C 37/08
US Classification:
239 37, 239 41, 239 38, 239 17, 137 72, 137 79
Abstract:
A dry pipe sprinkler assembly is provided including a sprinkler body having a thermally responsive trigger mounted thereto. A housing, including an inlet end and an outlet end is provided with the outlet end being connected to the sprinkler body. A seal member is disposed at the inlet end of the housing, and a load mechanism extends between the thermally responsive element and the seal member. The load mechanism may include a support portion, a passage tube portion, and an outlet orifice portion slidably received within the housing and movable within the housing upon activation of the thermally responsive trigger to allow the seal member to be dislodged from the inlet end of the housing to allow suppressant fluid to flow therethrough. The dry pipe sprinkler assembly allows the use of different outlet orifice members to provide dry pipe sprinkler assemblies having different K factors while utilizing common components for the remaining dry pipe sprinkler assembly.

Cover For Protecting A Fusible Linkage In A Sprinkler Head

B65D 41/00
US Classification:
239288, 2392885, 206418, 220724, 169 37
Abstract:
A combination of a cover and a sprinkler head. The sprinkler head includes a fusible linkage mounted within a frame and having a protruding portion. The cover includes a first member adjacent to the protruding portion of the fusible linkage. The first member has a first connecting end and a first fastening end opposite the first connecting end. A second member is opposite to the first member and has a second connecting end and a second fastening end opposite the second connecting end. The first and second connecting ends are coupled to each other. A first projection and a second projection extend from the first member toward the second member and are in spaced relation to each other for receiving the protruding portion of the fusible linkage.

US Patent:
8376061, Feb 19, 2013
Filed:
Apr 29, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/431990
Inventors:
Shawn J. Feenstra - Caledonia MI, US
Assignee:

Abstract:
A fire protection sprinkler is provided with a sprinkler body having a fluid passage defining an inlet end and an outlet end. A plug member is disposed in the fluid passage and a heat responsive unit releasable secures the plug member and the passage. A deflector is mounted to frame arms extending from the sprinkler body and the deflector includes a peripheral edge including a plurality of slots extending radially inward from the peripheral edge. At least two of the plurality of slots have a first outer portion having a first diameter and a second intermediate portion adjacent the first outer portion and having a second diameter less than the first diameter. A third inner portion extends radially inward from the second intermediate portion and has a third diameter greater than the second diameter. The deflector design is utilized for providing a desired water distribution pattern.

Fire Protection Valve Trim Assembly System

View page
US Patent:
20040011537, Jan 22, 2004
Filed:
May 15, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/438412
Inventors:
Eldon Jackson - Hastings MI, US
Shawn Feenstra - Middleville MI, US
International Classification:
A62C037/36
US Classification:
169/019000
Abstract:
A trim assembly for a fire protection system valve includes a mounting member and a piping assembly supported by the mounting member. The piping assembly includes a priming line with an inlet for receiving priming fluid from a fire suppressant fluid supply line and an outlet for delivering priming fluid to a priming chamber of the fire protection system valve. The inlet and the outlet are provided at the mounting member. The piping assembly also includes a component, which responsive to a control signal and/or a pressure differential. The component redirects priming fluid away from the outlet of the priming line in response to the control signal and/or the pressure differential for controlling the delivering of priming fluid to the priming chamber of the fire protection system valve. The piping assembly further includes a discharge outlet, with the priming line discharging the priming fluid to the discharge outlet when the component directs priming fluid away from the outlet of the priming line, which is preferably provided at the mounting member.
