Radial Head Replacement System

View page
US Patent:
20040186580, Sep 23, 2004
Filed:
Jan 29, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/767642
Inventors:
Scott Steinmann - Rochester MN, US
International Classification:
A61F002/38
US Classification:
623/020110, 623/020150
Abstract:
A radial head replacement system includes a radial head replacement, an apparatus for guiding the resection of a radial head, and a kit including bone plug and bone plug insertion instrument. The radial head replacement has a separate adjustable head portion that may be secured on an implanted stem such that the implanted radial head replacement smoothly interfaces with the capitellum of the humerus. In another form, the radial head replacement uses crossed bone screws that serve to more securely anchor the stem of the radial head replacement in the intramedullary canal of the radius. The resection guide includes a movable cutting guide which ensures a precise resection of the radial head and thereby allows for better positioning of the implanted radial head replacement. The bone plug limits the travel of bone cement beyond the area of affixation of the stem portion of a radial head replacement to the radius.

Articulating Hook Elevator And Arthroscopic Method For Using Same

View page
US Patent:
20090156903, Jun 18, 2009
Filed:
Dec 5, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/329401
Inventors:
Gregory A. Guederian - Naples FL, US
Scott P. Steinmann - Rochester MN, US
International Classification:
A61B 1/32
US Classification:
600204
Abstract:
An articulating hook elevator for manipulating tissue during arthroscopic procedures. The articulating hook elevator comprises a shaft, a proximal end, and a distal end provided with an articulating paddle. The hook may be actuated by a switch and can articulate into a standard tip for traditional manipulation of tissue, or into a rotated or articulated position. In this manner, effective manipulation and retraction of tissue from the surgical site without tissue collapse may be achieved, allowing a surgeon to better visualize the internal condition of the arthroscopic site and speed up the overall procedure.
