Door Check And Stop

View page
US Patent:
48416002, Jun 27, 1989
Filed:
Mar 23, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/171554
Inventors:
Ross S. Sasamura - Fremont CA
John H. Jewell - Fremont CA
Assignee:
Paccar Inc - Bellevue MA
International Classification:
E05F 506
E05D 1110
US Classification:
16335
Abstract:
A hinge assembly for a vehicle is provided having an internal passageway defined by mated slotted portions of the hinge and the door jamb, check assembly, mounted on the hinge and having a specifically configured free end extending through the passageway, and detent arrangement, mounted on the interior of the door jamb for engagement with the specifically configured free end of the check assembly to restrain rotation of the door in a primary intermediate open position. The specifically configured free end of the check assembly and the detent arrangement cooperated with one another so as to alternatively restrain rotation of the door in the primary intermediate open position and a less open secondary intermediate open position, and the check assembly is formed for releasable engagement with the detent arrangement to permit free rotation of the door to a fully open position.

Articulating Vent Window Assembly

View page
US Patent:
48501425, Jul 25, 1989
Filed:
Apr 11, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/180356
Inventors:
Ross S. Sasamura - Fremont CA
John H. Jewell - Fremont CA
Assignee:
PACCAR Inc - Bellevue WA
International Classification:
E05D 1500
E06B 334
US Classification:
49381
Abstract:
An articulating vent window assembly is provided wherein a vent window is pivotally mounted with respect to a sealing element for adjustment between a closed and an open position. A pivot mechanism is mounted near a peripheral edge of the vent window, providing articulation of the vent window around a pivot axis in proximity and substantially parallel to one of the peripheral edges of the vent window. The articulating vent window is adjustable between a closed position and at least one discrete open position by engagement of the pivot mechanism with spaced grooves provided in a corresponding detent member. A method for pivotally mounting a vent window in a vent window sealing element is also disclosed.

Door Alignment Assembly And Method

View page
US Patent:
48610992, Aug 29, 1989
Filed:
Mar 11, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/167308
Inventors:
Ross S. Sasamura - Fremont CA
John H. Jewell - Fremont CA
Assignee:
PACCAR Inc. - Bellevue WA
International Classification:
B60J 100
US Classification:
296202
Abstract:
An alignment assembly for aligning a door in a door jamb as the door is rotated into a closed position is disclosed. The door alignment assembly includes at least two door alignment components mounted in proximity to one another generally opposite the pivot axis of the door, one alignment component mounted on the door and the other alignment component mounted on the door jamb. The door alignment components include an alignment wedge having an arcuate surface and an alignment assistor having an angled lateral edge positioned to contact the arcuate surface of the alignment wedge along a substantially point contact to align the door in a top/bottom orientation in the door jamb. The alignment wedge also includes a tapered interface surface extending in a plane substantially perpendicular to the arcuate surface, the interface surface being positioned to contact an opposing surface of the door or door jamb when the door is in the closed position to align the door in a fore/aft orientation with respect to the door jamb. An improved method for simultaneously aligning the door and the door jamb in top/bottom and fore/aft orientations is also provided.

Aerodynamically Streamlined Step Assembly For A Truck

View page
US Patent:
48365688, Jun 6, 1989
Filed:
Sep 14, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/096728
Inventors:
Theresa D. Preslik - Fremont CA
Ross Sasamura - Fremont CA
Assignee:
Paccar Inc. - Bellevue WA
International Classification:
B60R 300
B62D 3500
US Classification:
2801641
Abstract:
A truck cab including entry doors on either side, a fender below and spaced in front of each entry door, and a fuel tank below and spaced behind each entry door is disclosed herein. The cab also includes aerodynamic step assembly which is located on each side of the cab below the entry door on that side and which contains a readily accessible tool or battery box. This box and the steps leading to the entry door are no wider than the door itself and therefore are spaced from the adjacent fender and fuel tank. However, aerodynamically shaped panels form part of the overall assembly for closing these spaces.

Universal Power Assist Arrangement For Use With A Vehicle Transmission Clutch Linkage

View page
US Patent:
47170026, Jan 5, 1988
Filed:
Dec 2, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/803434
Inventors:
Ross Sasamura - Fremont CA
Assignee:
Paccar, Inc. - Bellevue WA
International Classification:
F16D 2312
F16K 3144
US Classification:
192 99S
Abstract:
A vehicle of the type having a manual transmission is disclosed herein. The manual transmission includes a clutch, a clutch pedal and a linkage assembly interconnecting the clutch with the pedal and requires that the driver of the vehicle depress the clutch pedal in order to disengage the clutch. There is also disclosed herein an arrangement for assisting the driver in disengaging the clutch when the clutch pedal is depressed. This arrangement includes a power assist device, a source of power for driving the device, and a valve assembly including a valve and mounting components interconnecting the valve with the transmission's linkage assembly such that the manual depression of the pedal by the driver automatically acts on the valve to cause the latter to connect the power assist device to its source of power in order to drive the device and therefore aid the driver in disengaging the clutch.
