Filed:
Aug 14, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/219192
Inventors:
Ronald E. Fall - Carmel IN, US
John Ruddock - Westfield IN, US

International Classification:
B01D 27/06
US Classification:
210452, 210477, 210474, 210484, 210495
Abstract:
A filter element for hydrocarbon emissions in, e. g. , marine diesel engine applications, comprises a wound mat received within a filter bag. An annular end cap is bonded to one end of the wound mat, and is sealed around its periphery to a bag ring at the open end of the bag. The bag ring is then received and retained in a seat ring in the housing. The exhaust gas stream from the engine is directed through an opening in the end cap and through the wound mat and bag for removal of hydrocarbons and contaminants.

View page
US Patent:
20050284823, Dec 29, 2005
Filed:
Oct 15, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/966117
Inventors:
Ronald Fall - Carmel IN, US
Gary Hammond - Talking Rock GA, US
Steven Cardwell - Fisher IN, US

US Patent:
20130270168, Oct 17, 2013
Filed:
Apr 11, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/860741
Inventors:
Ronald Fall - Carmel IN, US
International Classification:
C02F 1/00
US Classification:
210232, 21049701
Abstract:
A filter cartridge for installation in a housing having a housing seat includes a filtration media compiled in a cylindrical pack having a radially outer face, a radially inner face defining a central cavity, a first axial end face, and a second axial end face. An end cap having an attachment portion is bonded and sealed to an axial end of the filtration media. A hub portion connects the attachment portion to a non-circular locking portion axially spaced from the attachment portion. The locking portion extends radially beyond the width of the hub portion and includes a sealing face having at least one annular sealing element for sealing against the housing seat.

Compound Layer Resin Bonded Filter Cartridge

US Patent:
56393709, Jun 17, 1997
Filed:
Sep 27, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/721928
Inventors:
Ronald E. Fall - Indianapolis IN
Mehrdad Jafarabadi - Brownsburg IN
John M. Ruddock - Westfield IN
Assignee:
Parker-Hannifin Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
B01D 2706
US Classification:
210489
Abstract:
A hollow, cylindrical, resin-bonded filter cartridge has an inner, depth-type filter media with a graded density which decreases (becomes porous) in the radial direction from the inner surface to the outer surface. An outer strip of filter media is then wound in a spiral or helix around the inner filter media. The outer filter media is also a depth type of filter media and has uniform density and is wound with adjacent windings abutting one another such that a continuous groove or channel is provided along the length of the cartridge. The groove or channel provides a greater effective surface area on the outer surface of the filter cartridge. The outer strip of filter media preferably comprises a lengthwise-extending body panel with a pair of leaves extending along either edge of the body panel. The leaves are folded against the lower surface of the outer filter media to provide a multi-layer outer filter media structure.
