Abstract:
A wireless device is provided with at least one wireless transceiver and at least one controller manager to transmit and receive signals wirelessly to and from network devices of a first and second wireless network, in a coordinated manner, in accordance with a first and a second protocol respectively. The wireless device is further provided with a network manager to coordinate the network devices of the first and second wireless networks to reduce interference between the network devices of the two wireless networks. In various embodiments, the reduction is effectuated through proactive avoidance of interference with dominant devices by dominated devices, whenever an interference is predicted to occur. In other embodiments, the reduction is effectuated through corresponding application of appropriate filtering to correspondingly cancel the respective interfering signals, whenever an interference is predicted to occur.

Abstract:
In a GSM mobile wireless telecommunications system, a method for conveying signaling between a mobile station and a base station via a CDMA air interface includes generating a signaling message based on a GSM interface standard. Data link services are provided to process the message for transmission over the CDMA air interface, and the processed message is then transmitted over the CDMA air interface. Preferably, the data link services are provided by a data link layer, which produces an IS-95 message for transmission.

Abstract:
A collection of wirelessly networked devices including first devices wirelessly networked together using a first wireless protocol that is a frequency hopping protocol, and second devices wirelessly networked together using a second wireless protocol, are operated in a coordinated manner, including proactive reduction of interference between the networked devices. In one embodiment, the first devices include at least a first and a second subset operating with a first and a second frequency hopping pattern respectively. The proactive reduction effort includes synchronized operations of the first and second subsets of the first devices, and the second devices operate in a manner complementary to the synchronized operations of the first devices. In one embodiment, the collection of wirelessly networked devices includes at least one wireless device that operates in both wireless networks in accordance with both wireless protocols. The multi-protocol device is equipped to at least facilitate prospective anticipation of whether transmission of a long packet that spans multiple ones of successive frequencies by a device of the first wireless network will cause interference with devices of the second wireless network.

Abstract:
A wireless device is provided with a wireless transceiver to transmit and receive signals in accordance with a first protocol to and from network devices of a first wireless network, and a controller manager to control operation of the wireless transceiver. The wireless device is further provided with a wireless receiver to receive signals transmitted in accordance with a second protocol by network devices of a second wireless network, and the controller manager is equipped to control operation of the wireless transceiver based at least in part on at least one signaling characteristic of the received signals from network devices of the second wireless network, to reduce interference with proximately located ones of the network devices of the second wireless network. In various embodiments, the controller manager suspends operation of the wireless transceiver whenever interference is predicted. Abstract:
A wireless device is provided with a wireless transceiver having a joint signal transmit/receive section, and a number of signal up/down conversion sections to transmit and receive signals wirelessly in accordance with a first and a second protocol. The wireless device is further provided with a controller/signal processing section to control and perform, in a coordinated manner, the transmit and receive operations in accordance with the two protocols. Abstract:
Techniques for supporting multiple potentially overlapping wireless protocols with a single electronic system are disclosed. In the description that follows, the overlapping protocols are Bluetooth and IEEE 802. 11 for wireless networking; however, other overlapping protocols can be supported in a similar manner. A transaction control policy and a collision map are provided to determine which protocol to enable/disable when a conflict arises. Based on the transaction control policy and the collision map, one or more transceivers that operate according to the wireless protocols can be selectively enabled/disabled to avoid actual conflicts.

Abstract:
A wireless device is provided with a first wireless transceiver and a second wireless transceiver operative in a coordinated manner and coupled to at least one controller manager. The first wireless transceiver transmits and receives signals in accordance with a first protocol to and from a first network device of a first wireless network communicatively coupled to the apparatus, and the second wireless transceiver transmits and receives signals in accordance with a second protocol to and from a second network device of a second wireless network communicatively coupled to the apparatus. This coordination may include, for example, selection of network devices of either the first or the second network as dominant devices that operationally dominate network devices of the other network.
