62375237, May 29, 2001
Filed:
Feb 22, 2000
Appl. No.:
9/511175
Inventors:
Roger P. Day - Kemah TX
John Maurice Nixon - Arlington TX
International Classification:
B63B 1700
US Classification:
114362
Abstract:
A stair device for use in entering and exiting the water from a water vehicle, swim platform or dock. A first embodiment of the stair device is best suited for use on water vehicles and is comprised of an upper tubular section having two parallel tubes each having a straight vertical section, a curved section and a substantially straight horizontal section. A lower tubular section is rotatably mounted to the upper tubular section and is comprised of a single tube having a substantially straight upper portion, a curved portion, and a substantially straight lower portion. A plurality of steps is provided along the lower tubular portion. A second embodiment of the invention is best suited for use on horizontal structures, such as swim platforms and is comprised of an upper tubular portion having two parallel, horizontal tubes and a lower tubular section comprised of a single tube having a substantially straight upper portion, a curved portion, and a substantially straight lower portion.

Direct Current Welding System

View page
US Patent:
52331598, Aug 3, 1993
Filed:
Jun 24, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/903498
Inventors:
Roger P. Day - Clear Lake Shores TX
International Classification:
B23K 910
US Classification:
219137PS
Abstract:
A battery-powered welder delivers limited DC current to a workpiece without substantial reduction in applied voltage. The DC current is limited by utilizing a tungsten member in series between the battery and an arcing electrode. There is specifically disclosed a TIG welder embodiment.

Centrifugal Degasser

View page
US Patent:
43268633, Apr 27, 1982
Filed:
Jul 21, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/170714
Inventors:
Roger W. Day - Houston TX
Sidney W. Dunavent - Houston TX
Elvis Rich - Houston TX
Assignee:
Geosource Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
B01D 1900
US Classification:
55171
Abstract:
A centrifugal degasser is provided using the principal of centrifugal force to separate gas from a gas-cut flowable material such as drilling mud. The device passes a gas-cut material through a centrifugal force field to accomplish the degassing. The invention contemplates the slurry flowing through the degasser by entering it through the top and flowing downward or entering from the bottom and flowing upward. In either case the slurry moves through the force field to accelerate gravity settling of the continuous phase of the flowable material and to accelerate buoyant force gas bubble rising time.

Centrifugal Mud Mixer

View page
US Patent:
41847717, Jan 22, 1980
Filed:
Aug 24, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/936643
Inventors:
Roger W. Day - Houston TX
Assignee:
Geosource Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
B28C 506
B01F 312
B01F 500
US Classification:
366 3
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for mixing liquid or drilling mud with solids is disclosed. The apparatus provides first and second concentric housings which are utilized as mixing chambers. An inlet passageway is tangentially connected to the inner housing for feeding a slurry material to be mixed with solids axially fed into the same housing. A discharge port is further provided and connected to an outer housing for tangentially discharging the homogeneous mixture of slurry and solid materials from the outer mixing chamber at high velocities to an elevation above the inlet. The method for mixing includes tangentially feeding the slurry into the mixing chamber, mixing the slurry with solid materials through the use of centrifugal force, shear forces and spill-over from the inner chamber to the outer chamber, and finally tangentially discharging the mixture from the outer chamber.

Boat Platform Ladder

View page
US Patent:
48239100, Apr 25, 1989
Filed:
Jul 29, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/225768
Inventors:
Roger P. Day - Kemah TX
International Classification:
B63B 2920
E06C 504
US Classification:
182 84
Abstract:
A boat platform ladder attaches at one end to the stern of a vessel and can be raised and lowered between stored and in use positions. A ladder is rotatably mounted to the opposite end of the platform. When the platform is lowered, locking mechanism fix the ladder in a perpendicular orientation relative to the platform. When the platform is raised, the ladder is unlocked so as to rotate into a parallel orientation relative to the platform.

High Capacity Continuous Solid Bowl Centrifuge

View page
US Patent:
47432268, May 10, 1988
Filed:
Apr 29, 1983
Appl. No.:
6/490195
Inventors:
Roger W. Day - Houston TX
Charles N. Grichar - Houston TX
Assignee:
Geosource Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
B04B 120
US Classification:
494 53
Abstract:
A high capacity continuous solid bowl centrifuge is disclosed having longitudinal vanes which cooperate with helical flights to form longitudinal channels. The longitudinal vanes may be curved vanes or they may be planar vanes disposed either radially or at an acute angle relative to a radius from the longitudinal axis of the centrifuge. In operation, the solids/liquid mixture fed into the centrifuge is separated, and the liquids move in a "plug-flow" manner in the longitudinal channels parallel to the axis of rotation, toward effluent discharge ports disposed at one end of the centrifuge. The separated heavier solids are moved by the flights toward the opposite end of the centrifuge where they exit through a solids discharge port.

Cyclone Assembly

View page
US Patent:
40533930, Oct 11, 1977
Filed:
Nov 19, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/633405
Inventors:
Roger W. Day - Houston TX
George S. Ormsby - Houston TX
Elvis Rich - Houston TX
Assignee:
Picenco International, Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
B04C 5085
US Classification:
209211
Abstract:
A cyclone assembly comprising a hollow body having a generally conical portion and a tubular insert body having a generally conical portion disposed at least partially within said hollow body coaxial therewith and adjacent the smaller end of the conical portion of said hollow body, the hollow body and the insert body having interengageable formations, projecting as to one of the bodies and receiving as to the other, for preventing longitudinal movement of the insert body with respect to the hollow body.

Multi-Stage Centrifugal Mixer

View page
US Patent:
43458416, Aug 24, 1982
Filed:
Jun 20, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/161396
Inventors:
Roger W. Day - Houston TX
Assignee:
Geosource Inc. - Houston TX
International Classification:
B28C 506
US Classification:
366 2
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for mixing liquid or a drilling mud with solids and a second liquid is disclosed. The apparatus provides an annular housing having a plurality of mixing chambers. An inlet passageway is tangentially connected to the innermost mixing chamber for feeding slurry material to be mixed with solids axially fed into the same mixing chamber. A discharge port is further provided and connected to the outermost mixing chamber for tangentially discharging the homogeneous mixture of slurry and solid materials from the outer mixing chamber at high velocities to an elevation above the inlet. The mixing operation is enhanced by the liquid/solid mixture spilling over a first partition wall and retaining its rotational velocity and direction of rotation while passing under a second partition wall and finally out the discharge port.
