Method Of Making A Motor/Generator Cooling Jacket

View page
US Patent:
20050268464, Dec 8, 2005
Filed:
Jun 4, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/860847
Inventors:
Roger Burjes - Independence KS, US
Daryl Brown - Neodesha KS, US
International Classification:
F28F019/00
B21D053/02
US Classification:
029890035, 029890030
Abstract:
A cooling jacket assembly is made for an electric motor or generator. A hollow cylindrical housing is cast with an outer peripheral surface and an annular axially facing end surface, a plurality of grooves formed in the outer peripheral surface and a radial lip at one end. The outer peripheral surface is machined into a smooth surface having a uniform diameter. Inlet and outlet ports are drilled through the end surface to communicate with the grooves. A pair of sealing recesses are formed in the outer peripheral surface on opposite sides of the grooves, and an O-ring seal is placed in each recess. A cylindrical sleeve is slid over the outer peripheral surface of the housing until it engages the lip and so that the sleeve slidably engages the outer peripheral surface and sealing engages the seals.

Transmission With Dual Ivt's And Planetary Gear Set

View page
US Patent:
20100285913, Nov 11, 2010
Filed:
May 6, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/436519
Inventors:
Roger W. Burjes - Independence KS, US
John J. Bloomfield - Wamego KS, US
International Classification:
F16H 47/04
US Classification:
475 72
Abstract:
A work machine includes an engine and a rear end coupled with the engine. The rear end includes a transmission having a first IVT with a first output shaft, and a second IVT with a second output shaft. A planetary gear set includes a sun gear coupled with the first output shaft, a ring gear coupled with the second output shaft, a plurality of planetary gears enmeshed between the sun gear and the ring gear, and a carrier gear coupled with each of the plurality of planetary gears. A final output includes a third output shaft carrying an output gear, with the output gear being enmeshed with the carrier gear.

Work Vehicle Transmission Prognostics System And Method

View page
US Patent:
20210129926, May 6, 2021
Filed:
Oct 30, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/669112
Inventors:
- Moline IL, US
Roger W. Burjes - Cedar Falls IA, US
Rainer Gugel - Plankstadt, DE
Adam J. Faucher - Cedar Falls IA, US
International Classification:
B62D 49/06
G07C 5/04
Abstract:
A work vehicle includes an engine; at least one continuously variable power source (CVP) configured to operate according to a commanded torque; an output shaft; a transmission positioned operatively between the output shaft and the engine and the CVP such that the output shaft selectively receives power from one or both of the engine and the at least one CVP; and a prognostics system configured to monitor a respective component associated with at least one of the output shaft or the transmission. The prognostics system includes a prognostics controller having a processor and memory architecture, configured to: receive input data, including the commanded torque; generate a usage value for the respective component for a time period as a function of the commanded torque; aggregate the usage value with previous usage values to generate a prognostics value over a life of the respective component; and store the prognostics value.

Hot Drop Fastening Of Coated Machine Components

View page
US Patent:
20210135553, May 6, 2021
Filed:
Oct 31, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/670475
Inventors:
- Moline IL, US
Clayton P. Neumann - Cedar Falls IA, US
Roger W. Burjes - Cedar Falls IA, US
Assignee:
Deere & Company - Moline IL
International Classification:
H02K 15/14
H02K 5/08
H02K 15/12
H05B 6/12
Abstract:
A method of hot drop fastening components and a product thereby made is described. Machine components are provided. A first machine component defines a passageway and carries a coating. The first machine component is caused to expand by delivering a predetermined amount of energy to the first machine component, wherein the predetermined amount of energy is based on a property of the coating. A second machine component is inserted into the passageway of the expanded first machine component. Thereafter, the first machine component is permitted to cool with the first machine component inserted in the passageway thereby fastening the first machine component with the second machine component by the first machine component contracting as it cools. Properties such as adhesion and/or rust prevention properties of a primer coating in a motor manufactured using a hot drop process are preserved during the hot drop process in the manufactured product.

Variable Power Take-Off With Electric Generating Capacity

View page
US Patent:
20180022337, Jan 25, 2018
Filed:
Jul 22, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/217237
Inventors:
- Moline IL, US
Roger W. Burjes - Cedar Falls IA, US
International Classification:
B60W 20/10
B60K 25/02
B60W 10/08
B60K 6/365
B60W 10/196
B60W 10/06
Abstract:
A power take-off system and method is provided for a vehicle that includes an internal combustion engine, an electrical generator, an electrical machine, a power take-off summing planetary and a power take-off brake. The power take-off system includes a controller and a human-machine interface. The controller is configured to receive an input from the human-machine interface to select one of a variable speed power take-off mode, an electrical power generation mode, and a full power fixed ratio power take-off mode of operation. In the variable speed power take-off mode, electrical power from the electrical generator and rotational power by the power take-off system are output, and the electrical machine receives electricity and provides rotational power. In the electrical power generation mode, the electrical generator and the electrical machine both provide electrical power. In the full power fixed ratio mode, no electrical power is provided.
