High Voltage Interrupter

View page
US Patent:
6747234, Jun 8, 2004
Filed:
Jul 23, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/202295
Inventors:
Robert A. Traska - Cedarburg WI
William M. Hurst - Whitefish Bay WI
Assignee:
Maysteel LLC - Menomonee Falls WI
International Classification:
H01H 3366
US Classification:
218134, 218139, 218140
Abstract:
A circuit interrupter including a housing having an internal cavity. The internal cavity includes a space at a first end thereof, and includes an internal wall extending from the space to a second end of the housing. A vacuum interrupter is disposed in the space. The vacuum interrupter has at least one movable contact for contacting at least one stationary contact. An operating rod extends through the cavity, and is operable to move the moveable contact. At least one baffle is fixed to the operating rod, and disposed in the cavity. In a preferred embodiment, at least one step is formed in the wall. The step separates a first internal wall section from a second internal wall section, and the first internal wall section is closer to the space than the second internal wall section.

Power Transfer System Having A Lockout Plate

US Patent:
6424060, Jul 23, 2002
Filed:
Aug 7, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/633253
Inventors:
Vincent Shiely - Brookfield WI
Michael Plute - Oak Creek WI
Thomas J. Green - West Bend WI
Robert Traska - Cedarburg WI
Assignee:
Generac Portable Products, Inc. - Jefferson WI
International Classification:
H02H 104
US Classification:
307328, 307115
Abstract:
A power transfer system for supplying electrical power to a plurality of load circuits, the system including a first input adapted to being electrically connected to a power source, and a first plurality of switches electrically connected to the first input, wherein each first switch has an ON state and an OFF state. The system also includes a second input adapted to being electrically connected to the plurality of load circuits, and a second plurality of switches electrically connected to the second input, wherein each of the second switches is associated with one of said first switches and is adapted to being associated with one of the load circuits, and wherein each of the second switches has an ON state and an OFF state. The system also includes a face plate through which each switch of the first and second pluralities of switches at least partially extends, and a movable lockout plate disposed behind the face plate that prevents the movement of a selected first or second switch from its OFF state to its ON state when the switch associated with said selected switch is in its ON state.

Medium Or High Voltage Switch Bushing

View page
US Patent:
20180019083, Jan 18, 2018
Filed:
Jun 15, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/624254
Inventors:
- Shelton CT, US
Robert A Traska - Cedarburg WI, US
International Classification:
H01H 33/53
H01H 33/666
H01H 33/66
H01H 33/662
Abstract:
A medium or high voltage switch is provided. The medium or high voltage switch includes a bottle assembly and a bushing. The bottle assembly includes a bottle formed of a first material and defining a chamber. The bottle assembly further includes a plurality of contacts for selectively opening and closing an electrical circuit, the plurality of contacts disposed within the chamber. The bushing is formed of a second material and defines a cavity configured to receive the bottle assembly. The bottle assembly and the bushing have an interference fit.

Control System For Synchronous Capacitor Switch

View page
US Patent:
20170294786, Oct 12, 2017
Filed:
Jun 27, 2017
Appl. No.:
15/634514
Inventors:
- Shelton CT, US
Robert A. Traska - Cedarburg WI, US
International Classification:
H02J 7/00
Abstract:
A method of controlling the connection of a multiple phase power source to a plurality of capacitors. The method including, for each phase of the power source, determining a first voltage using a first voltage divider, the first voltage divider having a first high voltage resistor and a first low voltage resistor, wherein the first voltage is equal to a voltage across the first low voltage resistor. The method further including, for each phase of the power source, determining a second voltage across using a second voltage divider, the second voltage divider having a second high voltage resistor and a second low voltage resistor, wherein the second voltage is equal to a voltage across the second low voltage resistor. The method further including, for each phase of the power source, generating a close signal when the difference between the first voltage and the second voltage is approximately zero.

US Patent:
20140306549, Oct 16, 2014
Filed:
Nov 3, 2011
Appl. No.:
14/356079
Inventors:
Joseph Gerovac - Menomonee Falls WI, US
Robert A. Traska - Cedarburg WI, US
Assignee:
HUBBELL INCORPORATED - Shelton CT
International Classification:
H02J 3/18
US Classification:
307109
Abstract:
Systems and methods for connecting a power source to switched capacitors are provided. A method may be used in controlling the connection of a multiple phase power source to a plurality of capacitors. Each phase of the multiple phase power source is electrically connectable to at least one of the capacitors through a switching device. The method comprises, for each phase of the multiple phase power source, determining a first voltage of a power signal for the respective phase of the power source using a first voltage divider that is electrically connected to a first terminal of the switching device for the phase. The method further comprises determining a second voltage across a capacitor that is connected to a second terminal of the switching device for the phase. The second voltage is determined using a second voltage divider that is connected to the second terminal of the switching device.
