Split Ring And Pellet Method Stitchless Fastener Coil Separation Tool

View page
US Patent:
7028594, Apr 18, 2006
Filed:
Mar 24, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/395514
Inventors:
Robert Mentken - New York NY, US
International Classification:
B23P 19/04
A45F 3/02
US Classification:
81488, 81 159, 29225, 224614
Abstract:
A guidance channel radiating from each side of clip holding chamber centered on a flat plate. A prying tool slideably and rotatably held within each guidance channel by a spring strip. A split ring held snugly within the holding chamber. The tool tips are forced between the split ring coils, which are separated further by simultaneous rotation of the prying tool handles 90-degrees in opposite clock directions. A pellet placed inside folded bag material forms a bump. The material with bump is placed between the separated coils into the split ring interior. Reverse 90-degree handle rotation partly closes the coils around the bump. Withdrawing the prying tools completely allows the coils to fully close, capturing the pellet-containing material. Tool stops prevent the tool tips from entering the split ring interior too far into or away from the clip holding chamber. Suspension of the tool and bags facilitates production.

Modular Universal Construction Units Employing Flexible Web With Interlockable Heads

US Patent:
50164171, May 21, 1991
Filed:
Nov 6, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/432461
Inventors:
Robert Mentken - New York NY
International Classification:
E04B 208
US Classification:
52571
Abstract:
A prefabricated adaptable lightweight hollow core construction system comprising at least a unit (30) which may be extruded of plastic and which comprises a plurality of compression-resistant, flexibly connected, elongated, hollow element pairs (40). Each pair comprises a triangular base element protruding from one side of a flat flexible sheet and an octagonal head element flexibly connected to the uppermost angle of the base element. Element pairs have undersized spaces (42) between them adapted to receive elements in interlocking engagement. Adjacent head elements (36) may be manually swung apart on flexible connections (38) and forced into adjacent undersized negative spaces (42) to subsequently form rigid right-angle corners at incremental points (34a) or other shapes formed (41, 32a, 34c, 34d, 34e) along the unit. Elements of a second unit (30a) may be alternately and sequentially interlocked with those remaining elements of the first unit that are not engaged in corner formation. This rigidly extends the straight sides of right-angle corners.

US Patent:
59573546, Sep 28, 1999
Filed:
Jan 24, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/012933
Inventors:
Robert Mentken - New York NY
International Classification:
A45F 304
US Classification:
224614
Abstract:
n A backsack (48) comprises a bag (51 ), a strap (30), a pair of robust ring spring clips (38, 66) and generally four pellets (26, 28). The bag is folded and glued of a single sheet of printable paper-like, yet high-strength material to have side gussets (55) and a flat bottom (52). The flat bottom (52) comprises folded and glued flaps (21, 23) which advantageously form corner pockets (22). The top of the bag is turned (87), with reinforcements affixed under the cuff. Two holes (88) are punched through all four layers of the collapsed bag resulting in eight holes (88) when the bag is open. With the bag still collapsed, the strap (30) is threaded through one of the two holes, back through the other, and serves as a closure at the top, leach of the two equal length portions of the strap (30) emerges from its hole and loops down to form shoulder loops. A pellet (28) is placed into each bottom corner pocket (22). The coils of the pair of ring spring clips (40, 42 and 68, 70) are pried apart with a tool (34).
