Structuring And Searching Data In A Hierarchical Confidence-Based Configuration

View page
US Patent:
8209313, Jun 26, 2012
Filed:
Jan 28, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/321997
Inventors:
Jens Nicholas Wessling - Ann Arbor MI, US
Robert Dennis Kahlbaum - Ypsilanti MI, US
Dustin James Williams - Dexter MI, US
Assignee:
Rovi Technologies Corporation - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707706
Abstract:
A method and a system are provided for structuring and searching data in a hierarchical confidence-based configuration. In one example, the system receives data and assigns a confidence quality tier to the data. The confidence quality tier is in a range that spans from a highest confidence quality tier inclusive to a lowest confidence quality tier inclusive. Data of a particular confidence quality tier is configured to be searched before data of a relatively lower confidence quality tier. The system organizes the data in a selected server of a server system according to the confidence quality tier. The selected server is in the range that spans from the highest confidence quality tier inclusive to the lowest confidence quality tier inclusive.

Constructing Album Data Using Discrete Track Data From Multiple Sources

US Patent:
20100153393, Jun 17, 2010
Filed:
Dec 15, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/316706
Inventors:
Jens Nicholas Wessling - Ann Arbor MI, US
Robert Dennis Kahlbaum - Ypsilanti MI, US
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707737, 707E17108
Abstract:
A method and a system are provided for constructing album data using discrete track data from multiple sources. In one example, the system identifies one or more set of tracks having a similar album title, wherein the one or more set of tracks are obtained from one or more client devices. The system then searches across the one or more set of tracks for tracks having a matching fingerprint and a matching album title. The system groups tracks that match according to an original album title in metadata to obtain grouped tracks. The system mines across the grouped tracks to generate a juxtaposition of track data from the one or more client devices. The system then generates album data for one or more albums based on the juxtaposition of track data.

US Patent:
20100228704, Sep 9, 2010
Filed:
Feb 20, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/378841
Inventors:
Robert Dennis Kahlbaum - Ypsilanti MI, US
Lars William Anderson - Ann Arbor MI, US
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
G06F 7/00
US Classification:
707698, 707E17001, 707803
Abstract:
A method and a system are provided for recognizing a disc. In one example, the system receives a disc, such as, for example, a Blu-ray Disc. The disc includes a content certificate and data files. The content certificate includes a unique text file that certifies the disc complies with predetermined disc parameters. The data files are the actual audio and/or video content on the disc. The system reads the content certificate or reads the data related to the data files. The system generates a hash value by applying a hash function to the content certificate or to the data related to the data files. The hash value is a unique identifier for the disc.

Inventors:
Jens Nicholas Wessling - Ann Arbor MI, US
Robert Dennis Kahlbaum - Ypsilanti MI, US
Dustin James Williams - Dexter MI, US
Assignee:

International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707780, 707769, 707E17014
Abstract:
Data searching performed by a server system. A query is received to search data stored in an organizing system in which data has been organized from a highest confidence quality tier to a lowest confidence quality tier. Data of the highest confidence quality tier of the organizing system is searched to satisfy the query, wherein searching the data of the highest confidence quality tier is performed before searching data of a lower confidence quality tier of the organizing system.
