Flow Control Module For Ro Water Treatment System

View page
US Patent:
6436282, Aug 20, 2002
Filed:
Aug 8, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/633995
Inventors:
Robert R. Gundrum - Sheboygan WI
Michael J. Kurth - Howards Grove WI
Michael D. Steinhardt - Kiel WI
Assignee:
Plymouth Products, Inc. - Sheboygan WI
International Classification:
B01D 6300
US Classification:
210117, 210137, 210136, 2102572, 210335, 210418
Abstract:
A unitary multi-function control module for a reverse osmosis water purification system provides all of the necessary flow control functions in a single removable and easily replaceable unit. The module connects directly with a unitary injection molded manifold and includes a control housing having a cover plate , a main body , and a closure plate. The control housing entirely encloses therein the supply flow shutoff valve , the reverse osmosis flow control , the permeate back flow check valve , and all of the interconnections between the manifold and the supply, permeate, and brine flow paths.

Filter Cartridge Assembly With Brine Seal And Retaining Ring

View page
US Patent:
6830683, Dec 14, 2004
Filed:
Apr 23, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/127914
Inventors:
Robert R. Gundrum - Sheboygan WI
Jeffrey J. Julich - Sheboygan WI
Assignee:
Culligan International Company - Northbrook IL
International Classification:
B01D 2700
US Classification:
210232, 21032183, 2104331, 210440, 210450, 210453, 210455
Abstract:
A filter cartridge assembly intended for replaceable installation in a demountable cartridge housing includes in one embodiment, a retaining ring that is attached to the product water tube of the filter cartridge, is inserted with the cartridge into the housing, and is locked to the housing such that, upon subsequent removal of the housing to change the cartridge, the cartridge will be forced from sealing engagement with the end cap header and caused to remain in the housing until the housing has been removed. The integral retaining ring and cartridge are then simply unlocked and removed from the housing for replacement. Brine ring embodiments that are welded to the housing or attached to the housing with a snap-in connection are also disclosed.

Filter Cartridge Retaining Assembly

View page
US Patent:
58913343, Apr 6, 1999
Filed:
Jun 19, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/878664
Inventors:
Robert R. Gundrum - Sheboygan WI
Michael D. Steinhardt - Kiel WI
Robert G. Schumacher - Sheboygan Falls WI
Assignee:
Plymouth Products, Inc. - Sheboygan WI
International Classification:
B01D 3530
US Classification:
210232
Abstract:
A retaining ring assembly for a reverse osmosis filter cartridge includes a removable retaining ring inserted into the cartridge housing after insertion of the cartridge, the retaining ring including a demountable locking connection with the housing. When the housing is subsequently removed to replace the cartridge, the retaining ring forces the cartridge from its tightly sealed connection to the end cap or header, allowing the cartridge to be easily removed with the housing. Preferably, the housing includes a special brine ring adapted to cooperate with a conventional cartridge brine seal, the brine ring providing connection for the retaining ring and defining with the housing a brine flow passage.
