Double Panel Boxes

View page
US Patent:
20010027993, Oct 11, 2001
Filed:
Jun 6, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/875590
Inventors:
Jeffrey Smith - Clark NJ, US
Richard Beneroff - Chatham NJ, US
Eric Kim - Secaucus NJ, US
International Classification:
B65D005/28
US Classification:
229/168000, 229/120120, 229/120170, 206/485000, 206/564000
Abstract:
A box includes a plurality of outer panels collectively bounding an accommodation space for accommodating at least one item. At least some of the outer side panels have integrally formed inner side panels. The inner side panels may be automatically distanced from their respective outer side panels by moving the outer side panels from a collapsed flat position to an erected position. Certain panels of the box may be folded back on adjacent panels. The space between two panels may be utilized. For example it may be a display space, a compartment accessible through an opening panel, or a storage space for a dispenser pack. Opening or closing a panel on the box, or another action on the box, may trigger various functions of the box components or contents.

Packaging Container For Allowing Inspection Of Contents

View page
US Patent:
60169192, Jan 25, 2000
Filed:
Dec 18, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/993951
Inventors:
Jeffrey A. Smith - Clark NJ
Richard N. Beneroff - Chatham NJ
Eric Kim - Secaucus NJ
Assignee:
Motion Design, Inc. - Linden NJ
International Classification:
B65D 550
B65D 8542
US Classification:
206774
Abstract:
A packaging container is provided which allows an enclosed product to be viewed, inspected, and handled without the risk of damage, soiling, or theft. In an exemplary embodiment the container comprises an outer portion and an inner portion, wherein the product may be contained within the inner portion and the inner portion may be at least partially removed from the outer portion. As a specific example, the container may comprise a rigid outer box and a transparent flexible inner bag attached to the outer box. The inner bag, in conjunction with the box, forms an enclosure for the product, and allows the product to be at least partially removed from the rigid box while still being fully enclosed by the packaging container. The container may be closed or sealed at one end and partially blocked at the other end through the use of displaceable barriers. The purchaser may displace the barriers and remove the object from the confines of the outer portion of the container while the object is still contained and confined by the inner portion of the container.

US Patent:
60478845, Apr 11, 2000
Filed:
Sep 24, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/160217
Inventors:
Jeffrey A. Smith - Clark NJ
Richard N. Beneroff - Chatham NJ
Eric Kim - Secaucus NJ

Nested Box With Integrated Lid And Reinforced Seam

View page
US Patent:
60169524, Jan 25, 2000
Filed:
May 5, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/072975
Inventors:
Jeffrey A. Smith - Clark NJ
Richard N. Beneroff - Chatham NJ
Eric Kim - Secaucus NJ
Assignee:
Motion Design, Inc. - Linden NJ
International Classification:
B65D 536
US Classification:
229117
Abstract:
The present invention provides for an improved telescoping container, which is set up and collapsed flat quickly and easily, and is provided to the user in one integral piece, eliminating the necessity of a lid being assembled or maintained separately. An integral lid provides an improved amount of cushioning and strength, and does not enter the cubic volume of the container and thus reduce available storage space. In one embodiment of the invention the container gains strength from a double glued seam, having opposing edges sealed to one another with two tabs; alternatively one of the two tabs is sealed. The container sets up by having an inner portion telescope into an outer portion, and may be collapsed flat by pulling the inner portion back out of the outer portion. In one embodiment the ease of set up is further improved by forming the lid from a continuous sheet of material, so that the lid may be closed in one motion, rather than the sequence of steps required with other lids. The lid of this embodiment is composed of multiple layers connected by folds which act as springs, and thus provides a springed, cushioned barrier to protect the contents of the container.
