Normally Emitting Pixel Architecture For Frustrated Total Internal Reflection Displays

View page
US Patent:
8320036, Nov 27, 2012
Filed:
Aug 24, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/546601
Inventors:
Kevin J. Derichs - Buda TX, US
Carey King - Austin TX, US
Daniel K. Van Ostrand - The Woodlands TX, US
Berry Tod Cox - Spring TX, US
Reed J. Killion - Spring TX, US
Assignee:
Rambus Inc. - Sunnyvale CA
International Classification:
G02F 1/03
G02F 1/29
G02F 1/1335
US Classification:
359259, 359245, 359231, 359263, 359315, 359316, 359318, 359320, 349 62, 349 65, 345 32, 313506, 385 15
Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus that includes a waveguide and one or more pixels deployed adjacent the top surface of the waveguide which contains TIR light therein. Each pixel includes a deformable active layer having a first conductor and a driver electronics layer having a second conductor. The driver electronics layer is deployed in spaced-apart relation to the active layer and opposite the waveguide. In a quiescent state of a pixel, the active layer is in contact or near contact with the top surface of the waveguide so as to optically couple light out via FTIR (i. e. , pixel's ON state). To actuate the pixel, the electronics layer is configured to selectively apply an electrical potential difference to the second conductor thereby causing the active layer to move away from the top surface so as to prevent the optical coupling of light out of the waveguide (i. e. , pixel's OFF state).

Intelligent Sleeve Container For Use In A Controlled Syringe System

View page
US Patent:
20090157219, Jun 18, 2009
Filed:
May 2, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/114267
Inventors:
Theresa W. Fossum - College Station TX, US
Douglas Smith - Albuquerque NM, US
Reed Killion - Spring TX, US
International Classification:
G06F 17/00
A61M 5/00
US Classification:
700231, 604 48
Abstract:
Various embodiments of the present invention concern improving the dosing accuracy and efficacy of systems that calculate medicine doses for injection in animals and prepare the correct dose in an automated syringe subsystem. In an embodiment, the improvement is gained by simultaneously protecting the medicine from ambient outdoor temperatures that thermally degrade its efficacy while precisely monitoring the amount of medicine remaining inside the source vial to prevent inadvertent under-dosing due to undetected source depletion. This dual-sleeve system (one for temperature, one for data storage concerning the source vial contents) forms an intelligent adjunct to current and future automated injection technology used to maintain healthy livestock.

Foldable Multi-Touch Surface

US Patent:
20150242012, Aug 27, 2015
Filed:
Sep 12, 2013
Appl. No.:
14/423276
Inventors:
- The Woodlands TX, US
Reed J. Killion - The Woodlands TX, US
Assignee:
UNIPIXEL DISPLAYS, INC. - The Woodlands TX
International Classification:
G06F 3/044
G09G 5/00
G06F 3/045
Abstract:
An embodiment of a touch sensor assembly including a rollable touch sensor further including an active touch sensor area that is configured to sense the location of a touch event by a user thereon. The rollable touch sensor is configured to be rolled and deformed without losing electrical conductivity. The touch sensor assembly further includes a support assembly coupled to the rollable touch sensor, the support assembly including a receptacle that is configured to receive and hold an electronic device.

US Patent:
20140295063, Oct 2, 2014
Filed:
Oct 25, 2012
Appl. No.:
14/354513
Inventors:
- The Woodlands TX, US
Ed S. Ramakrishnan - The Woodlands TX, US
Daniel K. Van Ostrand - The Woodlands TX, US
Reed Killion - The Woodlands TX, US
Kevin J. Derichs - The Woodlands TX, US
International Classification:
G06F 3/044
US Classification:
427 79
Abstract:
Mutual capacitance touch sensor circuits are used in manufacturing displays, including touch screen displays, such as LED, LCD, plasma, 3D, and other displays used in computing as well as stationary and portable electronic devices. A flexographic printing process may be used, for example, in a roll to roll handling system to print geometric patterns on a substrate, for example, a flexible dielectric substrate. These patterns may then be coated with a conductive material by, for example, an electroless plating process.
