Safety Drain System For Fluid Reservoir

View page
US Patent:
8316884, Nov 27, 2012
Filed:
Jul 29, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/846429
Inventors:
John Dwight England - Arab AL, US
Anthony R. Kelley - Somerville AL, US
Raymond J. Cronise - Huntsville AL, US
Assignee:
The United States of America as represented by the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration - Washington DC
International Classification:
F16L 41/00
US Classification:
137561A, 137575, 137590, 13759901, 138111
Abstract:
A safety drain system includes a plurality of drain sections, each of which defines distinct fluid flow paths. At least a portion of the fluid flow paths commence at a side of the drain section that is in fluid communication with a reservoir's fluid. Each fluid flow path at the side communicating with the reservoir's fluid defines an opening having a smallest dimension not to exceed approximately one centimeter. The drain sections are distributed over at least one surface of the reservoir. A manifold is coupled to the drain sections.

Self-Contained Tubular Compressed-Flow Generation Device For Use In Making Differential Measurements

View page
US Patent:
8555731, Oct 15, 2013
Filed:
Nov 22, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/302773
Inventors:
John Dwight England - Arab AL, US
Anthony R. Kelley - Sommerville AL, US
Raymond J. Cronise - Huntsville AL, US
Assignee:
The United States of America as Represented by the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration - Washington DC
International Classification:
G01F 1/34
US Classification:
7386142
Abstract:
A device used in making differential measurements of a flow includes an open-ended tubular flow obstruction and a support arm. The flow obstruction has an outer annular wall and an inner annular wall. The support arm has a first end coupled to an exterior wall of a conduit and a second end coupled to the flow obstruction. The support arm positions the flow obstruction in the conduit such that a first flow region is defined around the flow obstruction's outer annular wall and a second flow region is defined by the flow obstruction's inner annular wall. The support arm's first end and second end are separated from one another with respect to a length dimension of the conduit. Measurement ports provided in the flow obstruction are coupled to points at the exterior wall of the conduit by manifolds extending through the flow obstruction and support arm.

Integrated Poolscape Comprised Of Pre-Fabricated Elements And Related Methods

View page
US Patent:
20080134426, Jun 12, 2008
Filed:
Jan 30, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/342891
Inventors:
Raymond J. Cronise - Madison AL, US
Theodore F. Baudendistel - Hampton Cove AL, US
Richard E. Black - Fayetteville TN, US
International Classification:
E04H 4/00
US Classification:
4506
Abstract:
A poolscape is disclosed that comprises at least two of a plurality of pre-fabricated shell elements, each of said shell elements having a wall that conforms to a wall of one or more other shell elements comprising said plurality, wherein said at least two shell elements are conformably combined, and where the shell elements may be one of a swimming pool, a tanning ledge, a hot tub or spa, a fountain, a sun shelf, and a thermal ledge or variants thereof. The poolscape may include in-pool features, such as a pre-fabricated bench or pre-fabricated stairs.

System For Converting Jet Aircraft To Parabolic Flight Operation

View page
US Patent:
59713194, Oct 26, 1999
Filed:
Sep 5, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/923918
Inventors:
Bryon K. Lichtenberg - Gun Barrel City TX
Peter H. Diamandis - Rockville MD
Raymond J. Cronise - Madison AL
Michael L. Mahaffey - Tucson AZ
Assignee:
Zero-Gravity Corporation - Rockville MD
International Classification:
B64D 1100
US Classification:
244 1R
Abstract:
A system and method is provided for rapidly reconfiguring a jet aircraft from a cargo or passenger configuration into a parabolic flight configuration. In the parabolic flight configuration, a zero-gravity condition is created in the aircraft cabin to simulate a weightless atmosphere which can be provided as entertainment to paying customers. Various aspects of the invention include a hydraulic system design change which prevents loss of hydraulic function during a zero-gravity condition and a strap-down accelerometer which provides a visual indication of the parabolic flight condition. Additional interior modifications include removable padding areas, a dual-purpose interior gill liner, modified oxygen systems, handrail attachment fixtures, modified emergency lighting systems, and a palletized floor assembly.

Adaptive Thermodynamic Therapy System

View page
US Patent:
20140277308, Sep 18, 2014
Filed:
Mar 17, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/216157
Inventors:
Raymond J. Cronise - Huntsville AL, US
Anthony R. Kelley - Huntsville AL, US
Scott Parazynski - Houston TX, US
William D. Tepper - Alpharetta GA, US
International Classification:
A61F 7/10
US Classification:
607112
Abstract:
An adaptive thermodynamic therapy system capable of comfortably increasing metabolic expenditure to facilitate excess weight loss, including one or more sensors for measuring a subject user's body temperature, current activity/metabolic level and providing data representative of said body temperature to a computer-based controller, and then actively controlling a thermal load in contact with subject user's body and responsive to the computer-based controller. In one embodiment, the controller is configured to receive input from at least one computer-based device configured to provide user body data and calculate a state value representative of the user body data and to adjust the thermal load to obtain a desired physiological response from the user by modifying the state values.
