Sep 11, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/208764
Inventors:
Helen Jun Xing - San Diego CA, US
Muhammad Khawar R. Khan - Chula Vista CA, US
Rami H. Alnatsheh - San Diego CA, US
Ramesh Chandra Chirala - San Diego CA, US
Supratik Bhattacharjee - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
H04W 4/00
US Classification:
455434, 4554221
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for maintaining information during neighbor list updates comprising acquiring information of a first plurality of GSM neighbor cells; recording and keeping the information for a time period T; receiving a second plurality of GSM neighbor cells; comparing the second plurality of GSM neighbor cells with the first plurality of GSM cells in the record; if a GSM neighbor cell from the second plurality of GSM neighbor cells is not in the record, gathering information pertaining to the GSM neighbor cell; and if at least one GSM neighbor cell from the second plurality of GSM neighbor cells is in the record, determining if the age of the information pertaining to the at least one GSM neighbor cell is less than the time period T and if less than T, locating the at least one GSM neighbor cell.

Mitigating The Impact Of Transmit Blanking During Uplink Communications

View page
US Patent:
20160315744, Oct 27, 2016
Filed:
Jan 19, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/000973
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Omesh Kumar Handa - Carlsbad CA, US
Yuan Wang - San Diego CA, US
Rami Alnatsheh - San Diego CA, US
Syam Pavan Vadapalli - San Diego CA, US
Murali Menon - Acton MA, US
International Classification:
H04L 5/00
H04W 72/04
H04L 1/18
Abstract:
Aspects of mitigating throughput degradation during wireless communication include determining that a first transmission signal fails decoding at a network entity due to transmit (TX) blanking when a user equipment (UE) supports dual subscriber identity module dual active (DSDA) and is operating in hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) with incremental redundancy; determining whether a first retransmission signal for the first transmission signal fails decoding at the network entity; and retransmitting the first transmission signal as a new transmission signal when a determination is made that the first retransmission signal for the first transmission signal fails decoding at the network entity.

Uplink Data Routing During Multiple Carrier Power Imbalance

View page
US Patent:
20160173226, Jun 16, 2016
Filed:
Jul 9, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/795678
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Omesh Kumar HANDA - Carlsbad CA, US
Rami Hmeidan ALNATSHEH - San Diego CA, US
Chaitanya SHAH - San Diego CA, US
Yuan WANG - San Diego CA, US
Luna Sapna D'SOUZA - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
H04K 3/00
H04W 52/34
Abstract:
In an aspect, this disclosure provides for determining a power imbalance between a first radio frequency (RF) carrier and a second RF carrier of a dedicated physical control channel for uplink transmission, determining whether the power imbalance is greater than a power imbalance threshold, and blocking data transmission on one of the first RF carrier or the second RF carrier when the power imbalance is greater than the power imbalance threshold.

Reporting User Equipment Transmission Power Headroom (Uph) Of A Secondary Uplink Carrier

View page
US Patent:
20160044609, Feb 11, 2016
Filed:
Feb 5, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/614905
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Chaitanya SHAH - San Diego CA, US
Rami Hmeidan ALNATSHEH - San Diego CA, US
Murali Paravath MENON - Acton MA, US
Syam Pavan VADAPALLI - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
H04W 52/36
Abstract:
The present disclosure presents a method and an apparatus for reporting a user equipment (UE) transmission power headroom (UPH) of a secondary uplink carrier at the UE. For example, the method may include activating the secondary uplink carrier upon receiving a message from a base station in communication with the UE to activate the secondary uplink carrier, determining whether the UE has data available for transmission from the UE to the base station, computing a UPH value of the secondary uplink carrier in response to determining that the UE has data available for transmission, and transmitting the computed UPH value to the base station. As such, timely reporting of a secondary uplink carrier UPH to improve performance may be achieved.

Methods And Apparatus For Event Reporting Based Spurious Dpch Removal In Soft Handover

View page
US Patent:
20150163710, Jun 11, 2015
Filed:
May 22, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/285381
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Sagar Bharatkumar Shah - San Diego CA, US
Rami Hmeidan Alnatsheh - San Diego CA, US
Sharif Ahsanul Matin - San Diego CA, US
Vijay Marwah - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
QUALCOMM Incorporated - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04W 36/00
H04W 36/18
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for event reporting based spurious dedicated physical channel (DPCH) removal in soft handover include user equipment (UE) management of spurious channels. In one aspect, the disclosure provides methods and apparatus for wireless communication that may include determining that a dedicated physical channel (DPCH) is spurious, removing the DPCH from soft combining, and sending a report indicating that a cell associated with the DPCH is unavailable. Further, the methods and apparatus may include incrementing a counter for the cell associated with the DPCH in response to removing the DPCH, determining whether the counter exceeds a removal threshold, and increasing a time to trigger for sending a report to add the cell to an active set in response to the counter exceeding the removal threshold. A cell associated with a removed DPCH may also be excluded from measurements of a current frequency.

Apparatus And Methods For Detecting And Handling Spurious Dedicated Physical Control Channel In Soft Handover

View page
US Patent:
20150117402, Apr 30, 2015
Filed:
Apr 29, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/265063
Inventors:
- San Diego CA, US
Sagar Bharatkumar Shah - San Diego CA, US
Rami Hmeidan Alnatsheh - San Diego CA, US
Vijay Marwah - San Diego CA, US
Guang Xie - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
QUALCOMM Incorporated - San Diego CA
International Classification:
H04W 36/18
H04W 24/02
US Classification:
370331
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure provide an apparatus and methods for detecting and handling a spurious Dedicated Physical Channel (DPCH) of a cell in an active set from a mobile station side. A user equipment determines a signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) for each channel of a plurality of channels associated with cells maintained in an active set. A spurious DPCH has the lowest SIR among the plurality of channels. The user equipment puts the detected spurious DPCH in an exclusion mode in which the spurious DPCH is excluded from at least one of channel decoding or SIRE calculation, while maintaining the cell associated with the spurious DPCH in the active set.
