High Efficiency Electronic Ballast For Metal Halide Lamp

View page
US Patent:
7459862, Dec 2, 2008
Filed:
Mar 7, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/715612
Inventors:
Heping Chen - Nanping, CN
Min Chen - Nanping, CN
Qin Kong - San Diego CA, US
Wenxiong Zhang - Nanping, CN
Assignee:
Fujian Juan Kuang Yaming Electric Limited - Nanping, Fujian
International Classification:
H05B 37/02
US Classification:
315224, 315307, 315DIG 2
Abstract:
A high efficiency electronic ballast for large power metal halide lamp includes a power input circuit, a power factor correction circuit, a secondary power supply, a control circuit, a half bridge power converter, a resonant starting circuit, and lamp current on/off detector. The half bridge power converter has two DC block output capacitor to protect the converter when the output is shorted to ground. The operation frequency of the converter is chosen in the weak area of the acoustic resonant to avoid the acoustic resonant in the lamp. The control circuit adds a method for deep frequency and amplitude modulation and delay control function to the converter. For fine sweep pass through the output resonance point for igniting high voltage, two sweep rate control circuits are added. The metal halide lamp can be operated with very stable from starting to normal operation with high electronic ballast system efficiency.

Lighting Fixture With Adjustable Light Pattern And Foldable House Structure

US Patent:
8240876, Aug 14, 2012
Filed:
May 5, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/387698
Inventors:
Qin Kong - San Diego CA, US
International Classification:
F21V 17/02
US Classification:
36221705, 36221708, 36221709, 362255
Abstract:
A lighting fixture includes a reflector reflecting light from a fluorescent lamp to a desired direction, and one or more lamp connectors connecting the reflector to rotatably and detachably coupling with the fluorescent lamp, wherein the reflector is adapted to selectively rotate with respect to an axis of the fluorescent lamp for reflecting light from the fluorescent lamp so as to change a light pattern of the fluorescent lamp towards an opening of the foldable housing. The foldable housing includes two side frames and a retention frame extended between the two side frames to retain a distance therebetween, wherein the side frames are pivotally coupled with the retention frame to fold between an unfolded position to retain the fluorescent lamp in longitudinal position and a folded position to form a compact size for storage and transportation.

Fluorescent Light Dimmer

US Patent:
57571422, May 26, 1998
Filed:
Aug 16, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/698718
Inventors:
Qin Kong - Gaithersburg MD
International Classification:
H05B 3702
US Classification:
315224
Abstract:
An electronic drive for fluorescent lamps that includes a feedback loop arrangement where a lumen or intensity setting is compared to the lamp current and the frequency of an inverter is changed to bring the lumen output of the lamp to a level that matches the setting. The bandwidth of the feedback loop is great enough such that the time delay around the feedback loop is faster than prior art designs, and is preferably about 50 microseconds. This fast feedback loop provides the advantage that fluorescent lamps, and especially the more non-linear fluorescent lamps, can to be dimmed down to 10-30% of normal full scale lumen output without extinguishing. The faster feedback loop also prevents flicker when as the lamp is dimmed.
