Process For Detecting Or Quantifying A Biological Reaction Using Superparamagnetic Label

View page
US Patent:
20030124745, Jul 3, 2003
Filed:
Nov 19, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/298947
Inventors:
Qi Chen - San Gabriel CA, US
International Classification:
G01N033/553
US Classification:
436/526000
Abstract:
A method for detecting the occurrence of a biological reaction or quantitating its result employing superparamagnetic particles is disclosed. The particles are first conjugated or adsorbed to identical biomolecules which are members of a biological binding pair and the conjugates or adsorbates so formed are then contacted with a liquid or solid sample known to contain, or suspected of containing, molecules that are the biological binding partners of the biomolecules in the conjugates or adsorbates. The conjugates or adsorbates are contacted with the liquid or solid sample for a time sufficient to enable the formation of a tightly bound, three-dimensional mass comprised of interlinked biomolecules and bound superparamagnetic particles. The mass was exposed to the magnetic field of an experimental instrument for the shortest period necessary to induce magnetization of the superparamagnetic particles, whereupon the magnetic field was immediately removed. It was found that the mass exhibited a measurable nonpermanent magnetization which persisted for at least 20 minutes following exposure to the magnetic field. Experiments were later performed using a SQUID instrument having a constant magnetic field that cannot be switched off during measurements. These experiments confirmed that a measurable non-permanent aggregative magnetization remains in the sample, albeit for a shorter time period. They also showed that the effect persists for a longer period when the sample is kept wet after magnetization than when the sample is allowed to dry thereafter.

Sequential Processing With Vapor Treatment Of Thin Films Of Organic-Inorganic Perovskite Materials

View page
US Patent:
20190372041, Dec 5, 2019
Filed:
Aug 13, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/539589
Inventors:
- Oakland CA, US
Qi Chen - Los Angeles CA, US
Huanping Zhou - Los Angeles CA, US
Assignee:
The Regents of the University of California - Oakland CA
International Classification:
H01L 51/42
B05D 1/00
H01L 51/00
Abstract:
According to some embodiments of the present invention, a method of producing an organic-inorganic perovskite thin film includes depositing a layer of inorganic material on a substrate to form an inorganic film, and performing an organic vapor treatment of the inorganic film to produce an organic-inorganic perovskite thin film. The layer of inorganic material comprises an inorganic anion layer having a metal-ligand framework, and the organic vapor treatment provides organic cations capable of becoming inserted into the metal-ligand framework of the inorganic anion layer to form a perovskite structure.

Perovskite-Based Optoelectronic Device Employing Non-Doped Small Molecule Hole Transport Materials

View page
US Patent:
20180096796, Apr 5, 2018
Filed:
Apr 20, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/567721
Inventors:
- Oakland CA, US
Yongsheng Liu - Los Angeles CA, US
Qi Chen - Los Angeles CA, US
Huanping Zhou - Los Angeles CA, US
Assignee:

International Classification:
H01G 9/20
H01G 9/00
H01L 51/00
H01L 51/42
H01L 51/44
Abstract:
An optoelectronic device includes a first electrode, a second electrode spaced apart from the first electrode, a photoactive layer that includes an organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite material disposed between the first and second electrodes, and a layer of a hole transport material disposed between the photoactive layer and one of the first and second electrodes. A method of producing an optoelectronic device includes forming a photoactive layer of an organic-inorganic perovskite using at least one of solution processing or thermal vacuum deposition, and depositing a layer of hole transport material on the photoactive layer using at least one of solution processing or thermal vacuum deposition. The hole transport material includes non-doped donor-acceptor (D-A) conjugated small molecules.

US Patent:
20140346400, Nov 27, 2014
Filed:
Jun 2, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/293102
Inventors:
- Oakland CA, US
Qi Chen - Los Angeles CA, US
Assignee:
THE REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA - Oakland CA
International Classification:
C09K 11/06
C08F 212/08
C09K 11/02
US Classification:
25230118, 25230117, 526257
Abstract:
A method for the synthesis and use of transparent bulk conjugated polymers prepared from liquid monomers via bulk polymerization. The liquid monomer contains pi-electron conjugated moieties and polymerizable moieties. The monomer solution may also have functionalizing additives such as a luminescence additive that includes organic dyes, luminescent molecules, fluorescent compounds, phosphorescent compounds, and luminescent quantum dots. The monomer solution may also have sensitizing additives such as high-energy photo sensitizing compounds, nanoparticles of compounds containing atoms with atomic numbers greater than 52 and neutron sensitizing additives. The monomer solution is polymerized by heating to an elevated temperature with or without addition of an initiator. Alternatively, the monomer is polymerized by photo-induced polymerization. A photoinitiator may be employed to initiate the photopolymerization. Scintillation materials with significant light yields are illustrated.
