Dr. Greeff believes in looking his patients in the eye. “I sit down with them, look them straight in the eye so that they can see me. I think before too long, they realize, ‘This surgeon here actually is quite open with us. I think that he is being honest. He has not taken away our hope.’ I think it's very important as a surgeon that I be truthful with the patients, but always provide hope.” That’s what Dr. Greeff sees occurring at Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Southwestern Regional Medical Center everyday. When patients arrive they are welcomed by a host of individuals who are caring and provide a sense of hope. Ultimately, it’s a sense of control and the chance to fight that Dr. Greeff believes patients are seeking. “We need to tailor everything we do to the care of the patient so that they can be not only comfortable, but feel confident that this is where they need to be. When they [patients] come here, they want to fight. They want to do everything they can in order to get rid of the cancer in their body.” Assistance in a patient’s fight is something Dr. Greeff is glad to offer. “We give patients all the information to help them fight their own cancer because, ultimately, that is where the battle lines are drawn. We provide everything we can.”
