Sep 25, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/567135
Inventors:
John M. McCoy - Reading MA, US
Phillips W. Robbins - Cambridge MA, US
Assignee:
Glycosyn, Inc. - Medford MA
International Classification:
A61K 31/70
C12N 1/19
C12N 15/00
A61P 31/12
US Classification:
514 23, 4352542, 435440

Dna Encoding A Streptomyces Endochitinase 56 Signal Peptide

View page
US Patent:
51889617, Feb 23, 1993
Filed:
Feb 1, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/473309
Inventors:
Karen M. Overbye - Stoneham MA
Janice Pero - Lexington MA
Phillips W. Robbins - Beverly MA
Assignee:
Omnigene, Inc. - Cambridge MA
International Classification:
C12N 1574
C12N 1552
C12N 121
US Classification:
43525231
Abstract:
Engineered DNA encoding a pre-protein which comprises a Streptomyces chitinase signal sequence and a desired mature protein. Preferably, the signal sequence is from the S. plicatus endochitinase gene. The engineered DNA is included in a host organism causing the host to produce and secrete the mature protein. Where the mature protein is a chitinase, the invention is used in methods of controlling chitinase-sensitive pests.

Detection Of Prostate And Other Cancers By Assaying For Cancer-Specific Antigens Having Linked Oligosaccharides Which Are At Least Triantennary

View page
US Patent:
62039997, Mar 20, 2001
Filed:
Jan 14, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/231004
Inventors:
Phillips W. Robbins - Acton MA
Sadhana Prakash - Cambridge MA
Assignee:
Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. - Cambridge MA
International Classification:
G01N 33567
US Classification:
435 721
Abstract:
A process for assaying for cancer of the prostate, comprising assaying a sample derived from a human for prostate specific antigen having a linked oligosaccharide which is at least triantennary. The assay may employ a binding molecule which binds to oligosaccharides that are at least triantennary, but does not bind to oligosaccharides that are monoantennary or diantennary. Such binding molecule may be a lectin such as PHA-L or an antibody to an oligosaccharide that is at least triantennary.

Streptomyces Secretion Vector

View page
US Patent:
47450568, May 17, 1988
Filed:
Oct 23, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/663842
Inventors:
Sonia Guterman - Belmont MA
Janice Pero - Lexington MA
Phillips Robbins - Arlington MA
Assignee:
Biotechnica International, Inc. - Cambridge MA
International Classification:
C12P 2100
C12N 1500
C12N 120
C12N 700
US Classification:
435 68
Abstract:
Cloning vectors are disclosed to obtain secretion of a desired protein from a host Streptomyces when a structural gene coding for the protein is inserted into the vector. The vector has: (1) regulatory DNA that includes a promoter sequence effective to start transcription in the host Streptomyces and DNA that encodes a ribosome-binding site; (2) a DNA sequence that codes for a signal sequence that occurs naturally in a Streptomyces strain or that derives from such a DNA sequence; and (3) at least one engineered restriction endonuclease recognition site positioned for the insertion of a structural gene, the DNA that encodes a signal sequence and attached structural gene being transcribed and translated together under the control of the regulatory DNA. Expression vectors are disclosed which include a structural gene coding for a desired protein so positioned. Streptomyces cells containing the vector and methods of using them to produce the desired protein are disclosed.

57704058, Jun 23, 1998
Filed:
Jun 24, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/596250
Inventors:
Sharon T. Wong-Madden - Newburyport MA
Ellen P. Guthrie - Andover MA
Christopher H. Taron - Champaign IL
David Landry - Essex MA
Chudi Guan - Wenham MA
Phillips W. Robbins - Beverly MA
Assignee:
New England Biolabs, Inc.
International Classification:
C12P 1944

C12N 940
C12N 100
US Classification:
435 74
Abstract:
Purified N-acetylglucosaminidase and. alpha. 1-3,6 Galactosidase endogenous to Xanthomonas have been described. Substrate specificity of isolated enzymes have been identified from GlcNAc. beta. 1-x and Gal. alpha. 1-3R, Gal. alpha. 1-6R, providing improved capability for selectively cleaving a glycosidic linkage in a carbohydrate substrate and for forming modified carbohydrates.
