Plow Support Assembly

View page
US Patent:
6393737, May 28, 2002
Filed:
Jul 11, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/903367
Inventors:
Philip J. Quenzi - Atlantic Mine MI
Cal G. Niemela - Chassell MI
Assignee:
Blizzard Corporation - Calumet MI
International Classification:
E01H 504
US Classification:
37231, 37234, 37236, 37266
Abstract:
A plow support assembly provides support of a plow assembly when the plow assembly is disconnected from a vehicle. The support assembly includes a support foot and is operable to move the support foot to a lowered, support position whereby the support foot engages the ground or support surface. The support assembly includes a control device which is operable to limit the downward movement of the support foot in response to a signal indicative of the support foot engaging the support surface, such that movement of the support foot is stopped once the support foot contacts a support surface or ground. The signal may be provided by a switch which is operable to communicate the signal in response to detection of a threshold position of the support foot, engagement of the support foot with the support surface, or a threshold hydraulic fluid pressure within the actuator, respectively.

Adjustable Wing Plow

US Patent:
6408549, Jun 25, 2002
Filed:
Oct 12, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/689494
Inventors:
Philip J. Quenzi - Atlantic Mine MI
Cal G. Niemela - Chassell MI
Curt E. Niemela - Chassell MI
Assignee:
Blizzard Corporation - Calumet MI
International Classification:
E01H 506
US Classification:
37281
Abstract:
A plow assembly for vehicles such as pickup trucks and tractors for moving snow or other materials, as well as for bulldozers, graders and the like for excavating and grading dirt, sand, gravel or other plowable materials, has at least one extendable, forwardly pivotable plow wing which is extendable on one end of a main plow by sliding movement along the front of the plow between a retracted and an extended position. The plow wing is also pivotally mounted on a hinge for movement between an aligned position and a forwardly angled position in which the plow wing front surface extends at an angle to the plow front surface. At least one fluid power cylinder is connected to the plow wing to move the wing between the retracted, extended, aligned, and forwardly angled positions. In the preferred embodiment, an extendable plow wing is included on each end of the main plow with a pair of fluid cylinders connected to each of the respective plow wings. The fluid cylinders are operable independently of one another to move the plow wings independently between their respective retracted, extended, aligned and forwardly angled positions.

Adjustable Wing Plow With Fixed Pivot

US Patent:
6412199, Jul 2, 2002
Filed:
Oct 12, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/689524
Inventors:
Philip J. Quenzi - Atlantic Mine MI
Cal G. Niemela - Chassell MI
Curt E. Niemela - Chassell MI
Assignee:
Blizzard Corporation - Calumet MI
International Classification:
E01H 506
US Classification:
37281
Abstract:
A plow assembly for vehicles, such as pickup trucks and tractors, or bulldozers or graders, for moving snow or other plowable materials has at least one extendable, forwardly pivotable plow wing which is pivotable at a hinge at one end of a main plow for movement between an aligned position and a forwardly angled position in which the plow wing front surface extends at an angle to the plow front surface. The plow wing includes an inner and outer portion, whereby the outer portion is slidably mounted to the inner portion for sliding movement along the inner portion between a retracted and an extended position. One or more actuators, such as fluid power cylinders or the like, are connected to the plow wing to move the wing between the retracted, extended, aligned and forwardly angled positions. In one preferred embodiment, an extendable plow wing is pivotally mounted on each end of the main plow with a pair of fluid cylinders connected to each of the respective plow wings. The fluid cylinders in each respective pair are operable independently of one another to move the plow wings independently between their respective retracted, extended, aligned and forwardly angled positions.

Apparatus And Method For Placing Elevated Concrete Slabs

View page
US Patent:
6434893, Aug 20, 2002
Filed:
Mar 2, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/517843
Inventors:
Philip J. Quenzi - Atlantic Mine MI
Assignee:
Delaware Capital Formation, Inc. - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
E04B 116
US Classification:
521261, 521265, 521272, 5274214, 527411, 52414, 52 1
Abstract:
An automatic or active shoring apparatus and process for controlling the deflection of the beams and girders typically in an elevated structure prior to and while concrete is placed and screeded on the beams and girders comprises a beam adjusting device and a beam monitor. The beam adjusting device is operable to adjust a curvature of the beam in response to the beam monitoring device, which measures and monitors the curvature of the beam throughout the placing and screeding processes. The beam adjusting device may comprise a heating device with or without a cooling device such as a fan, a cooling device, an adjustably weighted container, or a horizontally mounted fluid cylinder or jack. The curvature of each beam is automatically adjusted and maintained at a substantially level orientation prior to and while concrete is placed, screeded and cured at each beam. The present invention thus avoids the necessity of pre-placing concrete at the beams and further results in a slab where the concrete may be placed more efficiently and more accurately over conventional processes. Aspects of the present invention may be equally applicable on precambered beams as well as on straight or level beams.
