Wipers in roll form or separate sheets are stored in a plastic bag. A reclosable outlet is provided for the bag. In use with roll-form wipers, a restricted outlet is provided so as to provide resistance to the withdrawal of a strip of wipers from the bag, and allow them to be torn off along perforation lines delineating the wipers from one another. Preferably, the wiper material has a cleaning liquid absorbed in it. The bag material is a laminate comprising aluminum foil sandwiched between layers of polyester with an inner layer of polyethylene. This material is highly resistant to attack by aggressive solvents. In use with separate wipers, the bag has a slide-fastener closure which gives a wide outlet opening and adhesive-free closing.

The outer container is vacuum-sealed. The kit is stored until just before it is to be used. Fluid is released from the inner container into the wipers, preferably by means of a puncturing device operable to puncture one of the walls of the inner container by the application of pressure in a limited area on the outside of the outer container. The cleaning liquid is allowed to soak into the wipers, and the wipers are removed from the outer container for use. The container can be resealed to protect the wipers after the package has been opened. The puncturing device is located away from the edges of the package to minimize the chances of accidental puncture.

A cleaning sheet with a tacky surface coating is used to clean feed rollers in copying machines or similar equipment and similarly-coated cloths are used for the removal of particles from other surfaces to be cleaned. The cleaning articles are made by printing the tacky material on sheet material such as paper or cloth. Relatively thick layers of tacky material are applied quickly and economically by the use of a multi-stage printing press which builds up a thick layer from a plurality of thin layers.
