Dominic Dobson - Mercer Island WA, US
Peter K. Purdy - Bend OR, US
Assignee:
Motion Research Technologies, Inc. - Seattle WA
International Classification:
G02C 1/00
US Classification:
351158, 345 8
Abstract:
An apparatus generally including a first housing and a second housing is disclosed. The first housing may have (i) one or more first clips configured to removably secure the first housing to a frame of eyeglasses, (ii) at least one sensor configured to sense a response of a user wearing the eyeglasses and (iii) a transceiver configured to (a) receive an image in a receive message from external of the apparatus and (b) transmit the response in a transmit message to external of the apparatus. The second housing may be (i) attached to the first housing, (ii) positionable before a lens opening of the eyeglasses on a side of the lens opening opposite the user and (iii) configured to display the image to the user through the lens opening.

Resistance Garments And Active Materials

View page
US Patent:
8083644, Dec 27, 2011
Filed:
Dec 9, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/634519
Inventors:
Peter Purdy - Bend OR, US
Luke Purdy - Bend OR, US
Matthew Creedican - Bend OR, US
International Classification:
A63B 24/00
A63B 21/065
US Classification:
482 4, 482105, 2905
Abstract:
Resistance garments include for example a first cuff and a second cuff that circumscribe a portion of a wearer's body; an adjustment device fixedly attached to the first cuff; and a resistive element connecting the first cuff and the second cuff, and coupling with the adjustment device. An active material includes a backing fabric and one or more length-adjusting devices, that each include a first filament and a second filament that are interwoven with the backing fabric and substantially parallel with one another, and one or more motors. Each of the motors drives first and second spooling elements that alternatively reel in or reel out portions of the first and second filaments, respectively. The reeling in or out thereby adjusts (a) a length of the filaments, (b) a length of the length-adjusting device corresponding to the at least one motor, and (c) a length of the active material.

US Patent:
20070135279, Jun 14, 2007
Filed:
May 26, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/441568
Inventors:
Peter Purdy - Bend OR, US
Luke Purdy - Bend OR, US
International Classification:
A63B 21/02
US Classification:
482124000, 482121000
Abstract:
Resistance garments for providing increased benefits of physical exertion are described herein. The resistance garments provide for manual adjustment or automated adjustment of the tension in resistive elements and/or rods. Adjustment devices such as clam cleats, hooks, knobs, ratchet pulleys, spring loaded pulleys, automated resistance devices, and automated ratchet pulleys are disclosed.

Multi-Hull Marine Vessel With Retractable Outer Hulls

View page
US Patent:
55401708, Jul 30, 1996
Filed:
Aug 17, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/291985
Inventors:
Peter K. Purdy - Lake Stevens WA
International Classification:
B63B 100
US Classification:
114061
Abstract:
A multi-hull marine vessel having a center hull and a left and right outer hull movably positioned adjacent to the center hull. The outer hulls are on opposite sides of the center hull and are generally parallel to the center hull. Extendible support assemblies extend between the center hull and the outer hulls. The extendible support assemblies are movable between a retracted position with the outer hulls in nested positions immediately adjacent to the center hull, and extended positions with the outer hulls in outward positions away from the center hull. A support moving device is connected to the extendible support assemblies and is positioned to move the extendible support assemblies between the retracted and extended positions, thereby moving the outer hulls between the nested and outward positions. The center hull has a water ballast tank therein that is adapted to be filled with water, such that the multi-hull vessel is a self-righting vessel that will right itself from an overturned position when the water tank ballast is filled and the outer hulls are in the nested position. The outer hulls are sealed hulls with positive buoyancy to provide an unsinkable, ballasted, multi-hull marine vessel.
