Eyewear With Detachable Lens Portion

View page
US Patent:
6481845, Nov 19, 2002
Filed:
Aug 9, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/925784
Inventors:
Peter J. Gazzara - Reading MA, 01867
International Classification:
G02C 1108
US Classification:
351 62, 351158, 2436, 2452
Abstract:
An element of eyewear with a detachable lens portion comprising a first eyewear portion comprising a lens portion, a second eyewear portion comprising a frame portion, at least one projection that extends from the lens portion, and at least one aperture in the frame portion whereby the lens portion can be removably and replacably coupled with the frame portion. The at least one projection can be formed of resiliently compressible material. A plurality of projections can extend from the first eyewear portion, and a plurality of aligned apertures can be provided in a bridge segment of the frame portion. The projections can be longer than the bridge segment is thick such that distal ends of the projections will contact the forehead of the wearer to space the bridge segment therefrom. The element of eyewear can be an eye shield with a panel of translucent material comprising the lens portion.

Spirometer Calibration Device And Associated Displacement Detection System

View page
US Patent:
43241271, Apr 13, 1982
Filed:
Nov 19, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/095484
Inventors:
Peter Gazzara - Reading MA
John W. Burke - Melrose MA
Rodney Edwards - Framingham MA
Assignee:
Biotrine Corporation - Woburn MA
International Classification:
G01F 2500
US Classification:
73 3
Abstract:
A device for calibrating a Spirometer includes a hand driven syringe having magnetic elements displaced along the shaft of the syringe piston at intervals corresponding to designated volumes. A Hall effect transducer senses the passage of the magnetic when the syringe piston is actuated and transmitts pulses to a timer so that average rate of flow delivered by the syringe can be derived.

Method And Apparatus For Exhalation Analysis

View page
US Patent:
52460100, Sep 21, 1993
Filed:
Oct 3, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/770542
Inventors:
Peter Gazzara - Reading MA
John Burke - Melrose MA
Assignee:
Biotrine Corporation - Woburn MA
International Classification:
A61B 5087
US Classification:
128725
Abstract:
The present invention is a method for determining human expiratory flow rate, comprising a peak flow meter and a zone calculator. The peak flow meter is used to determine what the user's peak expiratory flow rate is in conjunction with medical data compiled on the zone calculator. The individual's peak expiratory flow rate and predetermined sub-optimal values are applied to the peak flow meter as color zone settings. The peak flow meter thus set is ready for the individual to use to determine whether he is functioning in the peak expiratory flow rate color zone, or one of the sub-optimal expiratory flow rate color zones. The color zones correspond to specific remedial measures to be followed by the individual in case of sub-optimal expiratory flow rate.

Resistive Element For Spirometer

View page
US Patent:
57432708, Apr 28, 1998
Filed:
Jun 21, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/667396
Inventors:
Peter J. Gazzara - Reading MA
John W. Burke - Melrose MA
Assignee:
Desert Moon Development Limited Partnership - Dana Point CA
International Classification:
A61B 508
US Classification:
128724
Abstract:
The present air tubes include a resistive element which is located in the hollow space of the tubular portion. This resistive element is adapted for providing a linear resistance-versus-pressure response is sized and adapted to cause a pressure difference or differential as air flows in the hollow space across this element. The resistive element includes a planar member having a first face and a second face, and a circular parameter connecting the first face to the second face. An aperture is formed in a center of the planar member for connecting the first face to the second face. A plurality of slots in the planar member extend radially from the aperture, thereby forming a plurality of hinged windows in the planar member. Each of the slots includes a central end and a distal end. The resistive element further includes a plurality of hinge slots.

Putting And Chipping Golf Stroke Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
51258447, Jun 30, 1992
Filed:
Jun 13, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/714727
Inventors:
Patrick Grant - Lexington MA
Peter Gazzara - Reading MA
Assignee:
The Tru-Stroke Company - Woburn MA
International Classification:
A63B 6936
US Classification:
434252
Abstract:
A golfing apparatus for use with a golf club to teach a golfer how to putt or chip a golf ball, the apparatus including a housing, a stroke arm extending outward from the housing, an attachment structure communicating with the stroke arm for rigidly securing the golf club to the stroke arm at or near the head of the golf club, and an actuating device communicating with the stroke arm for moving the stroke arm. In one embodiment, the actuating device includes a motor mounted within the housing on a horizontal gear rack, and a stroke arm attachment assembly connecting the stroke arm to the motor. The stroke arm attachment assembly includes a stroke arm vertical movement device, such as another motor or a bearing. The actuating device moves the stroke farm from an initial position through a predetermined stroke distance so as to teach the golfer gripping the moving golf club a proper putting or chipping golf stroke by the development of muscle memory. Alternatively, the golfer can stand at a distance from the apparatus and observe the moving golf club to learn the proper stroke.
